The Reception and Show will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church, Christian Education Building, 15 Miller St., Oldwick, 08858. Karen Ross, Reception Chair, and her committee have created a special evening of elegant food and fine non-alcoholic libations. The festivities will include butlered hors d'oeuvres, food stations and a standing bar, where signature drinks created especially for the show will be served as requested. Background music will be provided by Thomas Flynn, a classical pianist by training, who will provide an array of musical pieces suitable to the evening's elegance. Guests have the opportunity to view the show in advance, make purchase decisions prior to the public and meet the artists, all of whom will be invited. Awards based on selections by Jurists Joel Tidey, Judge of Selection, and Andrea Gianchiglia, Judge of Awards, will be presented by show Co- Chairs, Shaun Van Doren and Andy Calamaras. They include "Best in Show", "Best of Tewksbury", the Marion Katnack Memorial Award - Tewksbury Landscape", plus First, Second Third Place and Honorable Mentions in the categories of Landscape, Florals, Animal Kingdom, Abstracts, Still Life and Urban/Rural Views. Tickets for the Party, at $25 in advance and $30 at the door, allow unlimited show entrance. The show runs until Saturday, October 7 and the cost of admission is $3. The show and sale includes juried small works and portfolio areas. Photography, analog or digital only, is a new medium this year which also includes oils, acrylics, paper (pastels, watercolors, mixed media collages) and hand-pulled prints (etching, silk screen, lithographs). Subjects include Animals, Abstracts, Landscape, Floral and Still-Life. An Opening Reception will be held Friday evening, September 29, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Awards will be based on Best in Show, Best of Tewksbury, Marion Katnack Award - Tewksbury Landscape, plus first, second and third place Honorable Mentions in each category. Joel Tidey, Judge of Selection, studied at The Art Institute of Philadelphia and the New York Art Student's League in NYC. A member of the Salmagundi Art Club, he is the recipient of many awards such as The Martin Hannon Memorial Award in the Salmagundi Thumb-box Exhibition, Second Prize in the Salmagundi 2010 En Plein Air Exhibition, the West Essex Art Association's 2010 Best in Show Award and the American Artist Professional League's 2009 John R. Grabach Award, among others. His work is represented in private collections throughout the tri-state area and in the Siena Art Institute Onlus-Via Tommaso Pendola, Siena Italy. He teaches at the Visual Art Center of New Jersey and at the Joe Kubert School in Dover, NJ. Andrea Gianchiglia, Judge of Awards, is a resident of Califon and a graduate of the Hartford Art School where she earned a BFA in Illustration with a minor in Art History. Her works reflect her passion for animal and wildlife and for rural themed still-life, tending toward a realistic painting style. Working primarily in oils, she also does watercolor, pastels, acrylics, graphite, charcoal, scratchboard and colored pencils. She participates in individual and group shows throughout the tri-state area and has exhibited in various national juried shows, including the "Annual National Juried Exhibition of N.J.E.A.A. - Art of the Horse". A member of the Society of Animal Artists, the Pastel Society of America, the Salmagundi Art Club and the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, Andrea also teaches at the Visual Art Center of NJ, The Center for Contemporary Art, the Somerset Art Association, the Hunterdon Art Museum and conducts private lessons at her Bedminster studio. l i v i n g t h e l o w e r c a r b l i f e : a w e i g h t c o n t r o l p r o g r a M f o r a D u l t s Hunterdon Healthcare's Center for Nutrition and Diabetes Management will hold a weight management class called Living the Lower Carb Life: A Weight Control Program for Adults. This four-week program is designed to promote weight loss and improve health while limiting carbohydrates. The program will be held Tuesdays, beginning September 26 through October 17 from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. The class will be held at the Center for Nutrition and Diabetes Management located at the Wescott Medical Arts Center, 9100 Wescott Drive, Suite 102 in Flemington. The early stages of this program will include a carbohydrate-restrictive meal plan. Carbohydrates will be gradually increased over the course of four weeks.
