Cold laser is relatively new as compared to alternative therapies like acupuncture (originating 8000-3500 B.C.), chiropractic (1895) and physical therapy. Similar to the cell phone that has emerged into the "smart" phone. Alternative medicine has found use of the cold laser can improve patient outcome and shorten recovery times. Improvements in technology have made it cost effective for practitioners to own high quality cold laser. Cleared for use by the FDA in 2001, cold laser emits an impulse of light at a specific wavelength that allows for absorption of a photon energy packet. The goal is to deliver light energy units (photons) to damaged cells. Photons absorbed by the cells through laser therapy stimulate the mitochondria (power house of the cell) to accelerate production of ATP (Electro Chemical Energy). This energy provides the fuel to make needed repairs. In this office I have used cold laser in many different situations often requiring no more than one or two treatments. Individuals will always vary but if you are in constant discomfort or suffering from long term injury perhaps its time to try an alternative to your current course of treatment. – James P. Hunterdon Medical Center depends heavily on regular volunteer blood donors to maintain an adequate and safe blood supply. "Giving blood is the most generous act of kindness that one human being can do for another. When you give blood, you save lives. Blood is used for accident victims, newborn babies and their mothers who need a transfusion, people undergoing surgery, patients receiving treatment for cancer and other diseases," stated Cathy Conroy, Blood Donor Recruiter at Hunterdon Medical Center. To be eligible to donate blood a person must be at least 17 years of age, be in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. To schedule an appointment or for more information, call Hunterdon Medical Center at: 908.788.6405.
