E x P E R I E N C E C L A Y T E N N I S C O U R T S ! Have you ever played tennis on clay? It is a welcome change from that of the hard courts found at most parks and schools. Clay courts are easier on the body because the clay "gives" when you change direction and move about the court. Therefore, your joints experience less stress as compared to hard courts. Additionally, clay absorbs the sun's heat and plays cooler than hard courts. You can play longer and more comfortably. These courts play slower than hard courts and can make the game more enjoyable for players of all levels. For accomplished players, it can provide a new challenge. If you would like to experience the benefits of clay, on exquisitely prepared courts, consider the Flemington Tennis Club at 76 Elwood Avenue in Flemington, NJ 08802. Join in open play on Tuesday and Thursday late afternoons as well as Saturday and Sunday mornings. So, give clay a try and enjoy the wonderfully groomed courts at the Flemington Tennis Club! New members are welcome. Interested players can call: 908.782.1010 to schedule a date to try it out. www.FlemingtonTennis.org. Toenail fungus, an infection that gets in through cracks in your nail or cuts in your skin, affects millions of people every day. It can cause your toenails to become discolored, crumbly and flaking. If fungus toenails are not treated correctly they can develop into extremely painful thickened ugly toenails which make it very difficult to cut or trim. Millions of older Americans go to podiatrists every two months to have their fungus toenails cut and smoothed down. When your fungus toenails become this severe, it is virtually impossible to treat them or cure them. It is recommended once you see a change in your toenails you should go see a podiatrist right away. There is a new testing method for fungal toenails. Your podiatrist will cut a small piece of nail without any pain or discomfort and send it to the proper lab. Bako Integrated Physician Solutions lab has created a new method in identifying fungus called a genetic molecular test, which can identify the genus and species of a particular fungus, yeast, mold, or spore. This method offers a 25% higher sensitivity overall and twice as much sensitivity when detecting certain types of fungus. When the results come back to your podiatrist he will go over them with you completely and discuss all options of treatments for the fungus. If treated early you can get a complete clearing of your nails. Treatment options range from topicals, prescription oral medications and laser treatment for fungal nail. The pathology report will indicate which would be best for you. If you have any foot problems or issues and questions, please contact Howard J.
