Summer is almost over so it's probably time to change yours! The filter will be located where the air returns to your heating/cooling unit. It can be in or near the air handler unit, or behind the wall or floor return grate. Here is how to replace the air filter: 1. Turn air conditioner off and wait until it stops running. 2. Take the cover off the air return. 3. Remove the old filter (take note of its size). 4. Before inserting the new filter, write the current date on it. 5. Look at the filter to find the arrow on the edge. The arrow should be put in facing in the direction of the air flow. For filters with wall or floor mounted returns, the arrow should point in toward the return duct. For filters mounted in the ductwork near the air handler, the arrow should point toward the air conditioner unit. 6. Place the cover back on the air return. 7. Turn the air conditioner back on. W C T T S P E A R h E A D S C R E A T I O N O F N A T I v E P O L L I N A T O R G A R D E N Dawn Pogosaew, Tewksbury Resident and WCTT Conservation Department Chair, began a three year service project in 2016 to establish a Native Pollinator Garden at the Pascale Farm Park - Tewksbury Arboretum in Califon. The intention is to create an outdoor environmental classroom for students, organizations and community members next to the Tewksbury Elementary School where the land's diverse geographic environment has two ponds, wetlands, wet and dry meadows and woodlands. A Park plan was created with the help of the New Jersey Strike Team, the Native Plant Society of Hunterdon County and Forget Me Not Garden Design's proprietor Sandy Phelps. Haydon Hull, Superintendent of the Public Works Department, improved the garden's hardscape by creating a "reading wall" for sitting to read or contemplate and a brick path through the meadows. Plants were donated by Back to Nature and community members; others were purchased from Wild Ridge Nursery and the Archewilde Native Nursery. The Girl Scouts of Lebanon Township, working on their Silver Awards, labeled plants, created stepping stone paths, built bluebird houses, a bat house and small kiosks throughout the garden. They planted plant plugs, as did third grade Girl Scouts from Tewksbury. Plans continue for the cataloging of wildflowers found on the property and establishing smaller trails. WCTT, a service club open to any woman 18 years of age or older residing in Tewksbury or the surrounding area, is part of the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs, a division of the General Federation of Woman's Clubs. "Dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others", the NJ Federation 's mission is "Volunteers in Action - Making a Difference in the Lives of Others One Project at a Time!".
