U P C O M I N G E v E N T S A T T h E U N I O N F O R G E h E R I T A G E A S S O C I A T I O N Founded in 2002, the Union Forge Heritage Association created Solitude House Museum and managed the museum until 2012 in High Bridge. Striving to preserve and protect Hunterdon's history and natural environment on a much larger scale, the 1760 Joseph Turner House was founded in Union Township in 2014. UFHA will sponsor an essay contest which will be open to the High Bridge and Union Township Middle Schools. The student will write an essay about their favorite Union Iron Works property or historical person of choice to be read at the event. Prizes and certificates will be awarded. Senior Art Show and Photography Exhibit September 23, 1:00 - 5:00 pm. To celebrate the anniversary of the Ironworks, UFHA is sponsoring a Senior Art Show and Photography Exhibit. Both Events will spotlight the history of Hunterdon County as well as historical places, building and artifacts relating to the IronWorks. Readings by the winners of the Student Essay Contest will follow the Art and Photo Show reception. Forges to Factories, History of the Union Iron Works, October 7 and 14, 2:00 - 4:00 pm Michael Gronsky will have a Powerpoint Presentation on the history of the Union Iron Works and the Taylor Wharton Foundry. He will show never before seen 16mm footage of a WW II bombing mission over Germany. He will also have a 1942 audio recording of 200th Union Iron Works Anniversary in High Bridge. This will be a ticketed event. Christmas Open House, December 9 & 10, 12-5 pm. Come see our history museum decked out in Victorian style and enjoy a variety of delicious homemade food, drink and holiday cheer.
