In his place, regional church leader, President Bruce Jones of Morristown, has extended the call to local Asbury resident, Michael Rocco, to serve as the next Bishop in Clinton. A bishop is the leader of a local congregation, known as a ward, with duties similar to those of a pastor, priest or rabbi. A bishop oversees spiritual as well as practical matters, helping members to come unto Christ in all areas of their lives. In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this position is unpaid and typically lasts for a duration of about five years. Of this new opportunity to serve as bishop of the Clinton congregation, Rocco said, "What I enjoy most about my calling as bishop is witnessing the change in people through Christ's Atonement." Bishop Michael Rocco was born and raised in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from the University of Southern California. It was in California that he met his wife, Rochelle, and converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Rochelle have three grown children. Rocco is currently a successful clinical trial benefactor for Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Rocco will lead the members of the Clinton congregation with the assistance of two additional lay clergy, Frank White of Lebanon as first counselor, and David Pond of Alexandria, as second counselor. Together, this bishopric oversees the spiritual and social needs of the members of the congregation. The Clinton congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meets every Sunday at 10:00 am, 7 Red Schoolhouse Rd, Lebanon. b r i D g e l e s s o n s Improve your bidding skills by learning the modern/simplified bidding system!
