Check out the program offerings at Hunterdon County Parks! • June 6: Park Naturalist, Laura Bush will be teaching us The Difference between Butterflies and Moths ($3) from 6:30 - 8:00 pm at the lovely Echo Hill Lodge on 42 Lilac Drive. We will take a short walk around the park first, then go inside for a lecture. • July 14: Flat Water Paddle. We'll be leisurely paddling on Round Valley from 6:00 pm-8:30 pm. Sign up and meet us at the boat launch! We supply everything, including safety instructions and maneuvering techniques. • Chief Park Naturalist, Tom Sheppard will be leading bird trips as well. June 3 will be Sussex County Birds ($25) and July 8 will find us looking for Breeding Birds of Hunterdon County ($20). These trips leave from the Arboretum, at 1020 Rt 31 in Lebanon. • Recreation Program Coordinator, Liz Fulmer still has room on her trip to Bryn Athyn Historic District on her Landmarks in Light, ($15) trip on June 20. We'll leave the Arboretum at 7:00 pm and return around midnight! We'll visit Glencairn Museum, the Cairnwood Estate and Bryn Athyn Cathedral. • Relaxing Plein Air Landscape Painting: Summer Morning Light ($140)," six Wednesdays June 28 through August 2 or June 30 through August 4 at beautiful Echo Hill Park. Artists can immerse themselves in the woods, fields or pond area of the park from 9:00 am – noon, or stay as long as you like! • Ms Lena Shiffman will be offering Thursday Evening Art, (15+), Thursday evenings in August ($100). Class starts at 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm. All mediums and levels of ability are welcome. She'll be using the classroom at the Arboretum. We still have openings in our Summer Nature Program for children at Echo Hill and Teetertown. These day camps run from 9:30 pm – 3:30 pm. Our new Harbinger will be posted online on the first of June – stop in the Arboretum, pick one up and visit the gardens then come inside to view our taxidermy collection and our live turtles and pick one up! h u n t e r D o n h e a l t h a n D W e l l n e s s C e n t e r s o F F e r C P r b a s i C s The Hunterdon Health and Wellness Centers in Whitehouse Station and Clinton are dedicated to providing health enhancement and disease prevention programs for the community. As part of their Education Series, the Hunterdon Health and Wellness Centers will offer CPR Basics, on Monday, June 12 from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm in Clinton and Tuesday, June 13 from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm in Whitehouse Station. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, or CPR, can double or triple a person's chance of survival, especially if performed in the first few minutes of cardiac arrest. However, only 32 percent of cardiac arrest victims receive CPR from a bystander. Anyone can learn CPR and everyone should. This class will go over the basics of CPR and what to do in the event of a cardiac arrest. It will be led by Paul Hutchins, Program Coordinator, Center for CPR and Public Access Defibrillation. This program is free and participants will receive a guest pass to be used at the Hunterdon Health and Wellness Centers in Clinton (1738 Rte. 31, Clinton, 908.735.6884) and also in Whitehouse Station (537 Route 22 East, Whitehouse Station, 908.534.7600). Sunday, June 4, 2:00 to 5:00 pm: Art on Tap. Annual beer and food tasting fundraiser to benefit the Museum's education programs and exhibitions. Guests can sample 15 beers, enjoy food from Metropolitan Seafood Co, BEX Eatery & Catering Co., A La Carte, Frank's Restaurant, The Clinton House Bakery and other local eateries, and enjoy live music with New Road Band. Monday, June 19 through Friday, Aug. 18, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm: Summer Camp. HAM Summer Camps are fun, weeklong immersions taught by professional artists and teachers. Most camps are half day, with a few full day programs. Lunch and aftercare available. Camps included are: Art and Music, Photography, Comic Book Creation, LEGO ® Robotics, Claymation Animation, Fashion: Sewing and Construction, Nature Art, Acrylic Painting, Jewelry Making and Theater. Be inspired at this HAM workshop held in the studio of one of the 20th century's great ceramic artists. This workshop is an intensive exploration of clay as a medium for sculpture. Register at: www. HunterdonArtMuseum.org. Saturday, June 24, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm: Two Mills Plein Air Festival. The Hunterdon Art Museum and the Red Mill Museum Village are teaming up to sponsor this plein air event! Artists of all skill levels can enjoy a fun day outdoors creating art at one of New Jersey's most scenic views along the South Branch of the Raritan River. Artists are welcome to work with watercolors, pastels, charcoal or any other media. Jurors for this year's festival are: Oscar Peterson, Wes Sherman and Karen Romagna. Best In Show, as determined by the jurors, will receive a $100 prize. Honorable Mentions will be noted for best watercolor, oil and mixed-media art.
