Fall in Hunterdon County is second to none! Full of so many traditions... apple picking.... pumpkin carving, raking leaves and football on Sundays. But believe it or not, Hunterdon is missing something in arguably its most beautiful time of year. On October 8, 2017 that ends with the inaugural Main Street Half Marathon of Hunterdon and what promises to be a new fall tradition to add to your list, as well as an achievement to add to your tally. Beginning in downtown Clinton with views of the iconic Red Mill, over the river... through the woods... and past at least one grandma's house, the Main Street Half will be a celebration of health, and highlight some of the greatest things our area has to offer – beautiful landscape, welcoming communities and generously supportive small businesses…while making an effort to contribute in the fight against one of our area's biggest challenges – addiction. With a hometown finish on Main Street in Flemington and a party with a few hundred of your neighbors and closest new friends, we hope you'll join in the movement to bring it back local! Details and registration can be found at: www.MainStreetMarathon.com. r e D m i l l m u s e u m v i l l a g e t o h o s t P o P u l a r g h o s t & F o l k l o r e t o u r s Our popular Ghost & Folklore Tours are back! C a s a s h a W s e e k s a D v o C a t e s Every year there are more than 100,000 reports of child abuse or neglect in NJ. More than 10,000 are removed from their homes because the Court has found it to be too dangerous for them to remain in their homes. Court Appointed Special Advocates of Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties (CASA SHaW) recruits, screens, trains and supervises community volunteers to act as advocates in court for children living in foster care. CASA volunteers are appointed by a family court judge to discover the best possible outcome for an abused or neglected child's future as well as make recommendations that support the child's current needs. Volunteers receive support and supervision from a trained social worker throughout the duration of their cases. CASA SHaW is offering information sessions for prospective volunteers interested in learning more about this volunteer opportunity. Interested in becoming a CASA advocate? Visit: www.casashaw.org, call 908.689.5515, or email: info@casashaw.org.
