There are multiple facets of the show that volunteers are needed for including: receiving artwork, panel set up and take down, art sales, admissions and artist/sales checkout. The Show will be chaired by Society President Shaun C. Van Doren and Society member Andy Calamaras. The next Art Show Committee meeting will be on Wednesday, March 29 at 4:00 pm at the Mountainville Meeting Hall, 60 Water Street in Mountainville. Anyone interested in volunteering is welcome to attend! Can't make the meeting but still want to participate? Contact Shaun at: 908.439.3054 or tewksburyhistory@earthlink.net. The Show celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2014 and thus has had a successful run which the Tewksbury Historical Society is looking to recreate. Artists are wanted to enter the show with juried works, portfolio and a small works (cash and carry) section. An artist prospectus will be available in May 2017 with all of the details. Rural Awareness President Cynthia Boults says the Campanellis were chosen for their "exceptional and generous contributions of time and talent in the visual and literary arts and for increasing knowledge of the history of Franklin Township and our larger community." The award, presented in an embossed leather portfolio, includes a certificate and many letters of appreciation from organizations and government representatives in Hunterdon, Warren and Mercer Counties. The Campanellis are cited for helping raise funds and for providing valuable historical research. Descriptive words most often used in the letters are creative, enthusiastic, scholarly, talented, unique and generous. The Hiram Deats Award, named in honor of Hiram Deats (1810-1887), a Franklin resident who manufactured a plow patented by his father, John, and other farm implements that made significant contributions to 19th century agriculture, was initiated by Rural Awareness in 2000 to honor Franklin residents who exemplify outstanding practices of conservation, agriculture or community service. www.RuralAwareness.org.
