1 5 M a r c h 2 0 1 7 school's All-School Morning Meeting on January 31, students viewed three videos to help inspire them with ideas of ways to be kind. One video featured Olympic runners stopping to help each other after a fall, rather than worrying about their own race position. Another video showed a third grade student concerned about classmates having negative balances on their lunch accounts. He began raising money and working to earn money to pay off the other students' accounts. The final video highlighted a man who started a kindness campaign, and illustrated how simple gestures can go a long way. Students then brainstormed and shared ideas for ways that they plan to make someone's day during the month of February. Classrooms continued to participate in activities to promote and share kindness throughout the month. In student events, based on school size, CTMS came in third place in the country for fundraising success! Our total for 2016 alone was over $54,000 thanks to an amazing and generous school community and some dedicated students! In first place was 8th grader, Carrie Lotito, raising $5,130; in second place was 7th grader, Abby Vanderoef, who has been relaying since she was in second grade, raised $4,370; and in third place was 4th grader, Dana Lotito, raising $2,505.
