The events are part of the Nationwide celebration of Catholic education during the week of January 29 through February 4. The week's theme – "Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service" – highlights the schools' focus on faith development, academic excellence and dedication to community service. On Thursday, February 1, students will attend 9:00 am mass. Students will then gather together with their Faith Family to complete a community service project, "Hearts of Thanks." At ICS, Faith Families are cross-grade level groups of students in grades K-8. Each group is named after a Patron Saint and has two adult sponsors. These groups meet monthly and work together on a spiritual or service activity, building a strong community among themselves. "We appreciate the support we receive from the surrounding community, and we encourage our students to give back through service projects all year," commented Principal Cynthia C. Kitts. "It's part of our effort to provide a well-rounded education." Immaculate Conception School invites prospective students, their families and community residents to one of two open house events, Sunday, January 29, 10:00 am – Noon, or Wednesday, February 1, 9:00 am – 11:00 am! Calling all Toddlers! Immaculate Conception School is excited to introduce a new Toddler Program beginning September 2017! Class Meets Weekly: Thursdays, September 14 – December 21, 9:00 – 11:00 am Tuesdays and Thursdays, January 2 – May 1, 9:00 – 11:00 am 50 Sessions Total The ICS toddler program provides a warm, positive, first school experience for 2 year olds, who turn 2 by October 1. The program will be led by an experienced certified early education teacher and is designed to encourage independence in a fun-filled classroom environment, as the teacher and support staff foster growth in all areas of development. The program begins in September one day each week for two hours through December. As the program continues in January the schedule will expand to two days each week, allowing our little ones to prepare for their 3-year old preschool experience the following school year. Each school day will follow a planned schedule which will encompass many opportunities for creative exploration, while allowing the children the freedom to engage in play and satisfy their natural curiosity for life. The lessons planned will support the development of cognitive skills while using creativity and encouraging growth in self-confidence. The program emphasizes language development through music, storytelling, dramatic play and social experiences. In addition, our toddlers will engage in integrated activities, which will develop their small and large motor skills in the classroom and on the playground. Registration is now open for this new program and space is limited.
