ICS students were invited to step out of uniform and into pink to express their support. In just one day students raised $1424 that was donated to Hunterdon Medical Cancer Center. Christina O'Malley, Senior Vice President of Hunterdon Healthcare Foundation, was presented a check at ICS Morning Gathering on Wednesday November 23 for all students grades 1-8 to see. ICS Student Council President Jeffrey Lance commented, "I am very proud to represent the students who helped raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness. I thank everyone who participated in the fun- draiser, mostly because we broke our expectations by raising over $1,400 – that's impressive. The money we raised is going to a great cause and I hope it makes a difference in Breast Cancer research." The events are part of the Nationwide celebration of Catholic education during the week of January 29 through February 4. The week's theme – "Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service" – highlights the schools' focus on faith development, academic excellence and dedication to community service. On Thursday, February 1, students will attend 9:00 am mass. Students will then gather together with their Faith Family to complete a community service project, "Hearts of Thanks." At ICS, Faith Families are cross-grade level groups of students in grades K-8. Each group is named after a Patron Saint and has two adult sponsors. These groups meet monthly and work together on a spiritual or service activity, building a strong community among themselves. "We appreciate the support we receive from the surrounding community, and we encourage our students to give back through service projects all year," commented Principal Cynthia C. Kitts. "It's part of our effort to provide a well-rounded education." Immaculate Conception School invites prospective students, their families and community residents to one of two open house events, Sunday, January 29, 10:00 am – Noon, or Wednesday, February 1, 9:00 am – 11:00 am!
