Please become informed on the high school district's referendum

Total Projected Cost Not to Exceed = $9,743,000
• State Aid - The district is eligible to receive up to nearly 30%
in State funding ($2,888,800) for the estimated total approved
project cost. The State aid is available only if the referendum
passes. If the referendum fails and projects are included in the annual budget,
State aid is not available – which means paying for projects at 100%.
• Passage of referendum will not cause an increase to taxes.
If the referendum is passed by voters, it will not increase the debt service tax.
Why? The district is paying off debt from the 2001 referendum this year,
and the new annual debt payment would be less than the previous debt
payment ($792,750 annual payment reduced to $593,477). The lower annual
debt payment combined with state aid results in no increase to debt service
tax in any of the district's 12 Municipalities.
• Projects are necessary. The referendum includes no-frills, necessary
renovations to aging facilities on both campuses as well as energy-efficient
upgrades. The referendum will maintain safe and effective learning
environments and improve accessibility to facilities for students, staff, families
and community members.
• Why hold a referendum now? With the availability of State aid to
cover up to nearly 30% of the costs, low interest rates for school bonds,
and retiring debt from previous referendum, this is an opportune time
for the district to address needed facilities upgrades and renovations
while not burdening taxpayers.
Please remember to vote on November 8!
