Parents in all grade levels were invited to 'Lunch with Family Day' during our annual Scholastic Book Fair. What a wonderful sight to see students, parents, grandparents and siblings enjoy conversation, good food and laughs. Parents were able to enjoy recess time as well. Students were very excited to have parents and family members join them for this experience. When lunch was done they had time to peruse the PTA sponsored Book Fair and then meander out for recess. A fun time for all! Each month Round Valley School has an All School Meeting to celebrate our Words of the Month and student accomplishments. This is a great opportunity for our students to collaborate with each other, create presentations and share with the rest of the school and parents. During a typical meeting, the School Council begins with the flag salute, followed by Words of Wisdom, birthday celebrations, student presentations, Bucket Fillers and Bus of the Month recipients. Here are our Words of the Month: p Ta d i s c o u n T c a r d There's a great new way to save lots of money at many local shops, and support the Clinton Township PTA at the same time! Eric told students that he suffered a severe spinal injury, while playing for Rutgers University in a football game during his junior year, that caused him to be paralyzed from the neck down. Eric explained how the role of family, friends and the kindness of strangers uplifted him and motivated him when times were tough. Eric shared his harrowing story of years of rehabilitation, his return to his college classes, his graduation from Rutgers University, and employment as a sports broadcaster and analyst for Rutgers Football Radio Network Throughout the presentation Eric shared with our students the message that all things are possible, even when faced with what might seem to be impossible obstacles, and how having others believe in you can lead you to believe. For more information about Eric LeGrand you can read his book BELIEVE: My Faith and the Tackle That Changed My Life, or visit his website: www.TeamLegrand.org. In recognition of the Week of Respect, the 8th grade students of Clinton Township Middle School, as well as the North Hunterdon and Voorhees sending district 8th grade students, were privileged to view "You Don't Know Me Until You Know Me," by Dr. Michael Fowlin. Dr. Fowlin has been an actor since the age of eleven. He received his BA in Psychology and in the Spring of 2001, he received his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Rutgers. He continues to combine both of his interests into a profession that is geared toward the adolescent population. He has worked extensively with teenagers across the United States and abroad. His work has included peer mediation, diversity workshops, violence prevention and gender sensitivity training. LeGrand transcends normal groupings and stereotypes and lives out his mission of unity. He is an intense and dynamic young man who has and will continue to change the lives of teens. We personally experienced this amazing and emotional rollercoaster this morning and are thrilled to be back. F o r t h e p a s t 1 3 y e a r s D r .
