The Woman's Club of Tewksbury Township will welcome Laurel
Gould, Tewksbury resident and Great Swamp National Wildlife
Refuge volunteer, to its April 5 meeting at the Oldwick Manor,
behind the fire house. Refreshments are served at 9:00 am, followed by
the meeting and the presentation.
Ms. Gould is working with WCTT on its project to remove invasive species
from the site of the Tewksbury Arboretum on the Pascal Property, replacing
them with plants native to the area. She is a member of the NJ Invasive
Species Strike Team, a Statewide Co-operative effort to prevent the spread
of emerging invasive species across NJ. Its goal is to promote the protection
of forests, meadows and waterways.
Ms. Gould's slide presentation will detail the Team's work with counterparts
across the mid-Atlantic region to catalogue non-native species and assess their
threat level. Through the use of its App and its annual list of target species the
Team offers property owners guidance to eradicate invasive plants, animals,
pathogens and other organisms before they can cause damage to the health of
the environment, economy and citizenry. Guests are welcome to attend
this informative meeting. Please call 908.509.1855 for reservations
and additional details. Information about WCTT can be found on
its website: TewksburyWomansClub.org.
