"It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is.
And when you've got it, you want — oh, you
don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just
fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!"
~Mark Twain

On Saturday April 9, the Somerset County 4-H Association will open itself
up to kids in grades 1-5 as well as their parents for its annual 4-H Science-
Sational Day. Science-Sational Day will take place at the Ted Blum 4-H Center at
310 Milltown Rd in Bridgewater, NJ from 9:15 am until 1:30 pm. The admission fee
is $25 per child with an additional $20 for each additional sibling. Parents are able to
attend with their children at no additional charge. 4-H Science-sational Day is open
to 4-H members as well as non-members. The deadline to register is March 18.
4-H Science-Sational Day is a day full of fun and educational workshops
that has occurred since 1991. Past topics have included everything from gemology
and biology to physics and robotics. 2016 stands to be another great year as Somerset
County 4-H has 14 workshops that showcase a variety of interests. This year brings
back favorites such as Science You Can Eat, a workshop that focuses on using science
with cooking as well as Now You See It, a workshop that helps to show the science
behind magic tricks and illusions. There are also several new workshops
making their debut in 2016. One such workshop is Can You See Me, which
explores the concepts behind animal camouflage, as well as What's Up(cycling)
Doc, which allows attendees to make their own Grass Head out of recycled goods.
Registration is limited to 200 participants, so early registration is strongly
recommended. Visit the 4-H Office at 310 Milltown Rd, Bridgewater NJ to
pick up a registration packet, which contains more information about the
program. The registration packet is also available to download at http://
