Students, teachers and families from all four CTSD schools and Clinton Public School participated in the relay this year to "Paint the World Purple" with hope. This student-led fundraiser began six years ago, when seventh grader Caitlyn Downey approached teacher Diane Cormican with the idea. Caitlyn's mother, the late Jeanne Downey, was battling cancer and this was a way to fight back. Caitlyn is now a senior and was our featured speaker this year. Ms. Cormican continues to guide the students at CTMS. Students on the committee work for months to plan, advertise and promote participation. They also work to raise awareness about cancer. The CTMS relay has raised over $53,000 this year alone, bringing the six-year total to over $210,000! Participants work for months ahead of time to raise funds online as well as on the night of the event. Donations are still coming in!
