J u d g e t h o m a s d I l t s ( r e t ) a n d v e r v e r e s t a u r a n t h o n o r e d at c a s a B l a n c a Did you know that there are more than 500 children living in fos- ter care in Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties annually because of abuse or neglect? CASA of Somerset, Hunterdon, and War- ren Counties (CASA SHaW) is a local nonprofit which provides advocates in court for these children. You can help "Give Every Child a Chance" (#GECC) by attending the 8th Annual CASAblanca Casino Night on Friday, April 29 at 7:00 pm at The Imperia, 1714 Easton Avenue in Somerset. All proceeds benefit CASA SHaW's child advocacy mission. Tickets are $105 per person. The evening's activities include a buffet, 1-hr open bar (cash bar after), Atlantic City-style casino games, a silent auction, and raffle prizes. This year's honorees include Judge Thomas Dilts (retired) of Som- erset County and Verve Restaurant of Somerville, Proprietor Rick St. Pierre. Thomas Dilts served as a judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey for 20 years, sitting in the Family Division for most his tenure. He was instrumental in bringing the CASA program to the tri-counties. During his service as a Superior Court Judge, Thomas Dilts handled nearly all family mat- ters including juvenile and child abuse cases. Verve Restaurant and Rick St. Pierre have long been CASA supporters, raising money and awareness about its child advocacy mission. Mr. St. Pierre is also a well-known businessman and philanthropist in Somerset County and was named the County's "Citizen of the Year" in 2011. Verve was honored as one of New Jersey's Top 10 Bars in 2015. Last year's honorees were David and Susan Gibbons of Basking Ridge. Those interested in more information about the organization, the event, or tickets may call the CASA SHaW office at 908.689.5515. Tickets can also be ordered via the CASA SHaW website at www. casashaw.org. Sponsorships are also still available. CASA of Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties is part of a statewide network of community-based, non-profit programs that recruit, screen, train and supervise volunteers to "Speak Up for a Child" removed from home due to abuse or neglect. CASA is the only program in New Jersey that uses trained volunteers to work one-on-one with children, ensuring that each one gets the services needed and achieves permanency in a safe, nurturing home.
