The Clinton Guild, a not-for-profit group that consists of more than 70 local merchants and business owners, whose goal is to promote our unique village and all it has to offer – will host its annual Dickens' Days on Friday, November 27, Saturday, November 28 and Sunday, November 29. Dickens' Days is an annual event that transforms Clinton into a beautiful Victorian Village! Visitors can expect to interact with Scrooge, Charles Dickens and Father Christmas as they stroll through downtown Clinton entertaining shoppers. The town will be decorated for the holidays, with toy soldiers on the famous Clinton Bridge, holiday greens and twinkling lights. Horse drawn carriage rides, in full Victorian costume, offer a glimpse into the past. Musical performances of all genres will be performed by local artists and music groups throughout the weekend. Santa's Workshop, an interactive experience for children, will be located on the terrace of the Hunterdon Art Museum and available from Dickens' Days until January 1. Santa will be at the workshop in person, on Saturdays from noon - 3:00 pm for children to visit. The Annual Community Tree Lighting on Main Street is on Friday, November 27 at 6:30 pm – with caroling and a visit from Santa on the old- time fire truck! Saturday, November 28 is Small Business Saturday. Many shops throughout Clinton will have specials on the day and have organized educational and marketing campaigns to promote the importance of shopping locally. The Annual Clinton Christmas Parade takes place on December 4 at 7 pm. Late night shopping on Candlelight Night is Thursday, December 10, from dusk until 9 pm. Chabad of Hunterdon County will be hosting Chanukah On Ice, complete with a Giant Ice Menorah, at its Annual Community Chanukah Festival on Sunday, December 6, the first night of Chanukah. The event will take place at the Flemington Ice Arena (426 Case Boulevard, Flemington, NJ 08822). "Chanukah menorahs are made out of all kinds of materials," said Rabbi Eli Kornfeld. "But few if any are ever made of ice, stand 7 feet in the air, and weigh 500 pounds." In 2014 it was a Coin Menorah, 2013 a Can Menorah, 2012 a Bowling Pin Menorah, 2011 an Ice Menorah, 2010 a Lego Menorah, 2009 a Toy Menorah, 2008 an Edible Chocolate Menorah, 2007 a Balloon Menorah. What's next? A one-of-a-kind large Ice Menorah! Kim Phuong, master ice sculptor, has been creating ice masterpieces for more than 20 years. He passed on his the knowledge of the art to his son, David Fong, at a young age. Together the father and son team have shared numerous awards in national ice sculpting competitions. Kim will be carving and sculpting the large ice menorah at this year's Chanukah Festival, which will stand at just under seven feet. This year's event will also feature: Ice Skating, Candle Dipping, Chanukah Themed Jewelry Making, Duct Tape Crafts, Carnival Games, Chanukah Cookie Decorating, Face Painting, Dreidel Games, Menorah Crafts, Charity Can Building, Jewish Israeli Music, Kosher Hot Dogs (and other Kosher snack foods), Take a Picture with Judah The Maccabee or The Dreidel Man, Grand Raffle and Prizes, Hot Latkes, Donuts and Gelt! Community members are welcome to bring new unwrapped toys for Chabad of Hunterdon County's Annual Toy Drive, which provides toys to underprivileged families in Hunterdon County.The event is open to the public.
