The purpose of this program is to enhance literacy opportunities for our students and foster relationships between our middle schoolers and first graders. Spruce Run students may buddy up with CTMS students to read their reading books for fluency practice, or listen to a picture book read aloud. Students from both schools are very excited to participate in the Reading Buddies program! We are pleased to be able to provide the opportunity for our students to practice their reading and make new friends at the same time! PatrickMcGaheranSchool PMG Students Become Typing Agents! This year, the students at Patrick McGaheran were introduced to the new keyboarding program, Typing Agent, through technology classes with Miss Napoli. In second grade, students take on a quest to climb the famous K2 Mountain. In order to climb up the mountain, students learn how to type with EGor and the e-minions, plenty of typing practice through lessons to reinforce learning, view their progress, play fun games and earn badges. Third grade students begin by selecting their avatar (character) and phone cover design (keyboarding lessons and other features displayed). Once entered into the program, students can work on their agent lesson training, view their report, play fun games and earn badges. In addition, students can see what their rank (recruit, detective, secret agent all the way to super agent!) is after each lesson is completed. What is fantastic about this program is that students can use a PC, Mac, iPad, Chromebook, and Android devices to enter the program! Are YOU ready for the adventure in becoming a typing agent? https://app.typingagent.com Staying Active During the Winter Months! PMG's Physical Education Teacher, J. Scott Annan, has shared some tips to help our students, families and our community members to remain active during the winter months ahead: "Advances in technology over the years have allowed us to exercise without leaving the house. Many families have the ability to take advantage of fitness equipment in the home. Those items can include treadmills, rowers, elliptical machines and universal machines. Don't want to work out with equipment? I challenge my family to a game on the Wii or X-Box-Kinect consoles. The Wii and X-Box-Kinect allow players of all ages to enjoy video games. These video games allow players to dance, throw, swing and jump, keeping us physically active while having FUN! If you're not excited about staying inside, bundle up and go outside to play in the snow! Looking for some adventure? Go to the mountains for some skiing, snowboarding or tubing. You can still be active in a winter wonderland!" – J. Scott Annan RdVScho This is the second year that students, teachers, staff and parents have come to Round Valley School to honor our US Veterans! Students and staff were invited to decorate a flag to honor a family member, friend, or neighbor who served our country in the military. Included was the name, rank, branch of service and years served. Thank you parents for organizing and participating in this meaningful celebration. And THANK YOU VETERANS! Another tradition a t R o u n d V a l l e y School and at all Clinton Township Schools is showing o u r D e c e m b e r Word of the Month: GENEROSITY. This generosity has been a part of the school district for the past 29 years! Once again students will collect books, games, mittens, hats and balls for students who might otherwise go without. tonTohipMiddSchool Seventh grade students recognized Veteran's Day on November 11. They watched a brief history channel video followed by a discussion on the History of Veteran's day. What is a veteran? What are their sacrifices? Students read the famous poem "Flanders's Field" and brainstormed and discussed what the poem means and created stars of freedom to honor our veterans. Eighth grade students toured a classroom filled with artifacts and photographs from WWII, the Vietnam War, Afghanistan and Operation Desert Storm. They viewed photographs and saw the medals of a Marine Corp veteran who had been awarded the purple heart six years ago. This was a m e m o r a b l e day where we s a l u t e d a l l our veterans and thanked them for their service. Congratulations to all CTMS Athletes and Coaches on a Strong Fall Season!
