V O L u N T E E R G u a R d I a N S h I p ' S F a L L C O m m u N I T y E d u C a T I O N p R O G R a m S Volunteer Guardianship One-on-One, Inc. provides high quality guardianship services to adult individuals, typically the elderly suffering from a disability or physical and mental disease who have no family members or friends to serve in that capacity. We carry out our purpose by recruiting, educating and supporting caring volunteers who wish to assume this important responsibility on behalf of a fellow citizen in need. Our mission is to match our caring volunteers with those in need in order to form a special partnership intended to improve and enhance the lives of both partners. Without our organization, many incapacitated adults (perhaps the most vulnerable members of our society) would have no voice and no advocate. We give a voice to the voiceless and we bring dignity and hope to the lives of those lying in the shadows of our society. We are proud to present the following Fall Senior Series Programs: • September 30, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm: "End of Life Resources I May Need" You have questions, we have answers! From Medical Decision Making to Palliative and Hospice Care to Resolving Ethical Issues. Board Member Reyna Post, LCSW, Social Work Supervisor at Hunterdon Medical Center, will moderate this program. Speakers: Larisa Golub, MD, Monsignor Randall Vashon and Reverend Jim DeVries. • October 7, 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm: "Responsibilities of the Guardian" Hunterdon County Surrogate Susan Hoffman will moderate this program which aims to educate the guardian on such topics as Medicaid, Banking Issues, Legal Documents, Financial Reporting and Well Being Reporting. Useful resources and tips on helping the guardian navigate through the system on behalf of the ward will be presented. Speakers: Robin Krog from Medicaid, Bebe Rivera from Wells Fargo Bank and Jessica Wallace from the Hunterdon County Surrogate Office. • October 21, 5 pm to 8 pm: "Caregiving: Alzheimer's Assoc. of Greater NJ" Speaker Laura Hawkins of the Alzheimer's Association will present and offer insight and guidance on Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior and Visiting the Person with Dementia. Board Member Linda Bryant, RN, RG, Director of the Center For Healthy Aging at Hunterdon Medical Center, will moderate this program and share community resources that are available to support and assist the caregiver. All programs are free of charge; however, donations are greatly appreciated. Programs are held at Hunterdon Medical Center located at 2100 Wescott Drive in Flemington in Meeting Rooms A and B on the First Floor. A light dinner will be served.
