The plan provides a general vision for how the site can be rehabilitated by a private development with up to 14 housing units. The Township hopes to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) soliciting interested developers during the month of September. a F F o r d a b l e H o u s i n g Due to the State Supreme Court's Spring decision, the Township's affordable housing obligation will be decided by the courts. Accordingly, the Township filed a motion in court to obtain temporary immunity from builders' remedy lawsuits. The Township has updated our affordable housing plan and is proceeding through the court process to fulfill our obligations. H i g H l a n d s C o n F o r m a n C e The Township continues to work toward conforming with the Highlands Regional Master Plan. One of the next steps in this process will be undertaking a Center Designation Study for the Village of Annandale, which we anticipate will help us craft a vision for development in the area of the village, as well as begin to address some of the traffic issues that have been prevalent for decades. p l a n n i n g b o a r d This Fall the Planning Board will be undertaking a re-examination of the Township's Master Plan, which must be completed every ten years. In August, the Hunterdon County YMCA made an informal presentation to the Board on the potential expansion of the Round Valley YMCA location. The YMCA is considering an addition to the existing building as well as constructing tennis courts, playing fields and a possible commuter lot. Fall Council Update: Over the Summer, Mayor and Council have continued to make progress on a number of objectives: l e a F p i C k u p p r o g r a m 2 01 5 The curbside leaf pickup program is optional. Residents who can dispose of their leaves on their property are encouraged to do so. You may also compost or mow them. If you are taking advantage of Township leaf pickup, you must rake them to the curb, but leave them on your yard. DO NOT rake them into the street, as that contributes to storm drain clogging. The leaf pickup schedule for the Township will be as follows: 1) West of 31 and Petticoat Lane – Begins Monday, October 26, 2015 2) East of 31 – Begins November 16, 2015 LEAF PICKUP IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND IS WEATHER DEPENDENT. Inclement weather may cause your leaf pile to disperse and make it more difficult for us to get all of your leaves. If that happens, it's unfortunate, but time does not usually allow us to come back and get the remaining leaves after you may have raked them again. If you need all of your leaves removed, it may be necessary for you to hire a private landscaper. After East of 31 is complete, the DPW will return to West of 31 and Petticoat Lane for a second pickup. Please keep in mind the following: 1. Leaves must be raked and curbside prior to your scheduled zone date. 2. Piles of leaves with sticks, branches and grass clippings will NOT be accepted. 3. Bagged leaves will not be accepted. 4. Please do not rake leaves into the roadway, as this obstructs drainage. Leave them on your lawn, close to the curb. 5. This is a voluntary program; residents preferring to compost leaves, may do so. If you have any questions, please call the DPW voice mail at: 908.735.8800, ext. 230. Please leave a detailed message.
