If you love to sing, please consider joining the "Silver Belles and Beaus" Senior Singing Group at the North Hunterdon YMCA Active Older Adult Center, 285 Route 513, Glen Gardner. Spring rehearsals begin on Thursday, February 5 at 9:45 am. Weekly rehearsals run until 11:00 am through April. During the month of May we perform for local nursing homes and veterans groups. Our music ranges from show tunes and traditional holiday music to pop, folk songs and patriotic melodies. Most of our members do not read music – they just love to sing and enjoy bringing music into the lives of others. We take the summer off, as well as the month of January. We are planning a very nice sur- prise for everyone in honor of Valentine's Day. Hopefully the weather will be nice and we will have a good turnout. Remember your $10 dues are now due! The Hunterdon Flutterwheels Square Dance Club and The Hunterdon County Dept. of Parks & Recreation invite you to attend an OPEN HOUSE/FUN DAY on Sunday, February 8 to find out what square danc- ing is all about. The event will be held from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm in the picturesque Lodge at Echo Hill Park, 43 Lilac Drive in Stanton Station, NJ (use Flemington, 08822 in GPS). Refreshments will be available and the event will give participants an introduction to "Modern Square Dancing." No experi- ence is necessary. The event is suitable for teens and active adults. Jeannie Geremia, Chair of the Butterflies and BeeGAP program for the Garden Club of NJ, will make a presentation about the importance of attracting and retaining pollinators in the garden. She's considered an expert on many species of butterflies as well as native plants and habitats which support pollinators. A noted speaker who is passionate about gardening and supporting ecology, Ms. Geremia is spearheading an effort to raise awareness about pollinators. The Butterflies and BeeGAP (GAP stands for Gardeners Adding Pollinators) aims to educate residents about the importance of pollinators by promoting pollinator friendly practices in the home and garden.
