However, through the depth and detail of the Newroads process, we uncover and optimize the remaining 25-30% that is either not being done correctly, not being done at all, or not being managed as efficiently as it could be – all of which can make a tremendous difference to the long-term success of our clients' financial lives. We form lifelong relationships with our clients. The client supplies the personal information, a little time, and a commitment to make decisions. We determine the problems, develop the strategies, and assist in plan implementation. After that, we are there to help adjust, update, and manage the plan to assist our clients in achieving their desired goals and objectives. We commit to our clients and to their financial welfare. And, although we've heard time and again that there are no shortcuts, we all look for quick results. Be careful, though, not to fall prey to the numerous diet scams out there. Weight-loss scams are prevalent due to the law of supply and demand. According to a national survey, a little more than one-third of Americans polled admitted to being overweight; in actuality, government statistics show that it is closer to two-thirds of Americans who are overweight. Many diet products contain herbal ingredients which are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Under the current Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act passed in 1994, testing these supplements for effectiveness and safety is up to the manufacturers who, in turn, can be selective about the product information they release to both the FDA and the consumer. Many of these products do not lead to a healthy weight loss as advertised. Each year Americans spend more than $60 billion trying to lose weight. That includes everything from diet sodas to weight-loss products and gym mem- berships. This expense is nothing compared to the health risks associated with some of the scams, which can range from high blood pressure to heart attacks and strokes. In some cases, diet supplements have been known to cause gastrointes- tinal problems, severe liver damage and, in the most extreme cases, even death. Some telltale signs of a weight-loss scam are those that advertise such claims as: • lose weight without diet or exercise • eat anything you want and still lose • lose three or more pounds per week for several weeks • continue to lose even after you stop using the product • this product "works for everyone" Experts tell us a realistic expectation for a lasting weight-loss program is losing one to two pounds per week. Anything that promises more is likely a scam. So, if you're looking to get back into shape, maybe the best strategy is to avoid those empty promises along with the empty calories. C o m Clinton Township Homes Market Unexpectedly Strong! This has been a bit of an odd year for Clinton Township real es- tate. It seems the long series of snow storms knocked the wind out of the early Spring market and it never really came roaring back the way we'd have thought. The trend since 2012 has been for more sales and higher prices every year, as you can see on my Market News blog at ClintonRealEstate.com, and 2014 is no exception. Perhaps because the Spring market was weaker than expected, this Fall market, generally the second best time to sell, has shown unexpected strength with prices often slightly above comparable sales only six months earlier. Buyers are out there and they're looking for a home like yours. Donald Sherblom, Coldwell Banker, Clinton, 908.735.8080 ext. 132. Please call my cell: 908.797.9900. ClintonRealEstate.com
