The number of home sales in New Jersey rose by 29% from 2011 to 2012 and another 15% from 2012 to 2013. We expected this Summer market to be early and strong but heavy Winter weather caused January 2014 to be the first month since 2011 to have lower home sales than the same month the previous year! And the snow storms just kept coming, right through March. As a result we experienced an exaggerated Spring bump – a later but stronger Spring market than we anticipated. Will this more intense demand yield a higher sale price for your home? Let's talk real estate. Donald Sherblom, Coldwell Banker, Clinton (908) 735-8080, ext 132. Please call my cell: 908.797.9900. A historical presentation of the 150+ years of the Church is planned for 7:00 pm Sunday, October 19, held in the Church Hall on the Church's lower level. All are welcome; refreshments will be available. Immaculate Conception Church moved to Annandale in 1969 after out- growing its original church building in Clinton. It began with a small group of Palatine and Bavarian German iron workers and farmers, smuggled into New Jersey by their Lutheran and Reformed kin to escape the religious wars in Europe. By the time of the Revolutionary War, they were served by circuit riding German priests from St. Joseph Church in Philadelphia. Just before the Irish potato famine, the Mulligan brothers arrived in Clinton and within a decade owned the limestone quarry at the Red Mill. When the railroad was being built through the region in 1850, some of the Irish workers decided to stay put and got jobs with the quarry and the Taylor Iron Works. About that time, one of the Mulligans fit his barn on Halstead Street to serve as a church when a circuit rider arrived. Finally, in 1864 several of the members decided it was time to officially become a congregation and petitioned the bishop to do so, then filed for state incorporation as St. Mary's Church of Clinton. That status became official October 17, 1864. – F r a n k c u r c I o "Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn and cauldron bubble." ~ William Shakespeare, "Macbeth" c l I n t o n t o W n s h I p r e s I d e n t n e e d s y o u r h e l p ! One of our Clinton Township residents, Alan Bilbee, needs a liver transplant to live. He caught Hepatitis C from a tattoo in the 1980s and is currently receiving care at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia while awaiting trans- plant. Alan used to work as a masterful painter and remodeled homes in Northern NJ with his brother Howard. Unable to work since 2005, Alan is looking forward to getting healthy again so he can fish with his sons, play with his granddaughters and meet his far-away grandsons. Even with insurance, Alan is facing very high expenses. Since May 20, 2014, his wife Kathy Bilbee has been paying $40 a night as a guest of Gift of Life Family House in Philadelphia, which serves as a "home away from home" for organ transplant patients and their families. A fundraising campaign for transplant- related expenses has been established with the nonprofit HelpHOPELive. All contributions are tax-deductible. To donate, please visit: www.helpho- pelive.org and search for "Alan Bilbee" or call: 1.800.642.8399. Thank you.
