Frelinghuysen ~ Col. Lowrey Chapter's September meeting could be the start to confirming your suspicions! With nearly 3,000 chapters in the United States and abroad, the Daughters of the American Revolution are active locally, nationally and internationally to not only help preserve history and promote it in our schools but to also encourage patriotic endeavors as well. Women who can prove their lineage to a Revolutionary patriot enjoy the genealogi- cal connection to our country's path to freedom and become involved in countless ways. Our active chapter will kick off its new year (Sept 2014 - June 2015) meeting with special guest; State Regent, Connie Olde, in attendance! With 47 chapters in the State of New Jersey we are especially honored that Mrs. Olde will be joining us. On Sunday, October 12, the North Hunterdon Education Foundation (NHEF) is hosting its first annual "Running With the Lions" 5K Fam- ily Fun Run/Walk at Spruce Run Reservoir! Runners and walkers of all ages are invited to participate. All registered participants will receive a t-shirt. Bring the whole family, as there will be lots of other fun activities at the event including face painting, a DJ and awards. Visit www.nhhsfoundation.org for registration forms and sponsorship opportunities. "We're excited to host our first fun run/walk, and hope our community will come out and support us," said Cheryl Kuster, Chairperson, NHEF. "Not only will our families and friends be able to enjoy a fun afternoon, they also will be investing in the NHEF so that we can continue fulfilling our goal of funding and enhancing educational experiences for students at NHHS." Launched this past February, the NHEF has been hard at work. The first campaign, Legacy of Learning, gave family and friends the opportunity to recognize 2014 NHHS graduates by name on a banner prominently displayed at the graduation ceremony. Thank you to all contributors this year and congratulations to the Class of 2014! In addition, NHEF would like to thank Avectus of Lebanon, NJ for the generous donation of a SmartBoard. The SmartBoard will be used in the NHHS's math department starting the 2014/15 academic year. For more information on NHEF or to make a donation, please visit www.nhhsfoundation.org
