To help keep our kids safe from harm, here are some safety tips. n Plan a walking route to school or the bus stop. n Walk the route with your child beforehand. n Never talk to strangers or accept rides or gifts from strangers. n When driving kids, deliver and pick up as close to the school as possible. Don't leave until they are in the schoolyard or building. n Teach your children to arrive at the bus stop early, stay out of the street, wait for the school bus to come to a complete stop before approaching, watch for cars. n Be sure that your child knows his or her home phone number and address, your work number, the number of another trusted adult and how to call 911 for emergencies. An animal control program involves the capture of stray domestic animals as well as potentially rabid wild animals such as raccoons, skunks, groundhogs, foxes and bats which threaten the safety and health of residents. The Township's Animal Control Officer is Nate Barson of Animal Control & Investigative Services. To reach Nate, please call 908-899-1115. Residents are reminded that dogs must be licensed each year and a rabies certificate valid through October 31 of the current year is required. Any dog off the premises of the person owning it shall be accompanied by and controlled by a capable person using a standard dog leash. In all Township owned parks, athletic fields and play- grounds, dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet in length. The owner of the animal will be held strictly liable for any violation. All dog owners are reminded they are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. B r U S h c o l l e c t i o n The DPW yard will be open the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month through November 8. For each load over 2, a fee of $10 will be charged. Tickets for any excess disposal need to be purchased in advance and cannot be purchased at the DPW yard. They can be purchased either in person or via mail from the Clerk's office. Checks should be made payable to Clinton Township. Clerk's office hours are 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday. No tickets are required for a homeowner's 2 free loads. A list of homeowners will be maintained at the DPW yard. LEAF PICK-UP IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND IS WEATHER DEPENDENT. The purpose of the leaf collections program is to help alleviate the abundance of leaves that will cover the streets and clog the storm drains. It is not intended to be a lawn service that ensures all your leaves will be collected from your lawn. We will do the best we can with one pass down your street. As mentioned above, since we start Zone 2 when all leaves may not be down yet, we will make a second pass through that zone. Public Works anticipates and appreciates your cooperation to ensure the program's success. The leaf pick-up schedule for the Township will be as follows: Zone 2: Begins Monday, October 27, 2014 and includes all streets east of Route 31. Zone 1: Begins Monday, November 17, 2014 and includes all streets west of Route 31 and Petticoat Lane. After Zone 1 is complete, DPW will begin Zone 2 for the second pickup. Please note there are only two zones, and keep in mind the following: p o l l i n g l o c a t i o n c h a n g e : Residents who are in District 5 will now vote at Spruce Run School instead of Round Valley School.
