Our mission has always included promoting and preserving Irish American culture through activities like this parade". Parade Chairman Mike Darcy added, "the Friendly Sons of St Patrick especially want to thank our parade co-sponsors Flemington Car & Truck Country; Bill Healy Designs; MAG Industries, LLC; Cryan's Tavern; The Clinton Guild; and MSI Plumbing and Remodeling Inc." "The Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick- Hunterdon County have done much for Hunterdon families in need and in- stitutions that help families in need and it will be an honor to lead this group for the next two years" said Connolly. The FSSP raises and distributes funds to families devastated by medical bills, assists children with disabilities, supports non-profits that benefit people in need and promotes Irish-American culture, according to Connolly. In the past 8 years, the group has raised and distributed more than $100,000. Helping others is a cornerstone of the group which meets the sec- ond Tuesday each month at 8:00 pm at the Clinton Elks Lodge, and according to their new officers it is all done with good cheer. Some of their efforts at promoting Irish-American culture include promoting Irish dancing by sponsoring a parade float and Irish dancers in the Clinton Christmas parade; producing a hugely popular Saint Patrick's Day Celebration with live Irish music; and running a golf fundraiser at Beaver Brook attended by nearly 150 golfers each year. In 2014 the Friendly Sons will host the first Saint Patrick's Day Parade in Hunterdon County on March 16, at 3:00 pm in Clinton. As the group's president, Connolly is looking for new members for this rapidly grow- ing organization.
