CASA SH a W R u n s for Kids Everyone knows that the economy has been rough on everyone, but one particularly hard-hit sector has been non-profits. Court Appointed Special Advocates of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties (CASA SHaW) is hosting its third annual "Be a Superhero for Kids" 5k run and 1-mile walk at Meadow Breeze Park in Washington (Warren County) on October 26. The race is sanctioned by the USA Track and Field Association. Runners and their families are encouraged to dress in costumes, minus masks or long capes for safety reasons, to show their support for children in crisis by being a superhero for them. There will be a prize for the top male and female costumes. Those who wish to support this event may register at website, www.casashaw.org. Registration is $20 until October 18 and $25 through race day. Sponsorship opportunities also exist. For more information, contact Tracey at tracey@casashaw.org. CASA SHaW is part of a Statewide network of community-based, non-profit programs that recruit, screen, train and supervise volunteers to "Speak Up for a Child" removed from home due to abuse or neglect. CASA is the only program in New Jersey that uses trained volunteers to work one-onone with children, ensuring that each one gets the services needed and achieves permanency in a safe, nurturing home. Visit www.casashaw. org or call 908/689-5515 for more information about CASA of Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties. Or, to find a local CASA program in your county, visit www.casaofnj.org.
