CLINTON TOWNSHIP MUNICIPAL NEWS www.township.clinton.nj.us/ L e a f P i c k u p P r o g r a m – 2 01 3 PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE ONLY TWO ZONES THIS YEAR! The leaf pick-up schedule for the Township will be as follows: Zone 1: Begins Monday, October 28, 2013 and includes all streets west of Route 31 and Petticoat Lane. Zone 2: Begins Monday, November 18, 2013 and includes all streets east of Route 31. After Zone 2 is complete, DPW will begin Zone 1 for the second pickup. Please keep in mind the following: • Leaves must be raked and curbside prior to your scheduled zone date. • Piles of leaves with sticks, branches and grass clippings will NOT be accepted. • Bagged leaves will not be accepted. • Please do not rake leaves into the roadway, as this obstructs drainage. • This is a voluntary program, residents preferring to compost leaves, may do so. LEAF PICK-UP IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND IS WEATHER-DEPENDENT. Public Works anticipates and appreciates your cooperation to ensure the program's success. The Annandale Station parking lot has undergone improvements including: • More parking spaces (from 77 to 100 spaces) • Additional Lighting • Additional Handicap Parking Spaces • Drop-off Area Several years ago, a group of organizations including the Annandale Citizen's Advisory Committee, Hunterdon Area Rural Transit, and the Raritan Valley Rail Coalition worked with the Township and County to lobby NJ Transit to make improvements to the historic station. Many of these improvements were finally completed this summer. The entire lot has been re-paved, striped, and rationalized to maximize legitimate parking spaces, and official capacity has been increased from 77 to 99 spaces. And somewhat synergistically, the station's makeover occurred at the same time the adjacent lumberyard is being redeveloped, providing a significant improvement over the dilapidated status quo that prevailed in the corner of the village for more than a decade. There is more work to be done in Annandale. The sidewalk network leading up to the walkable station is jagged and incomplete, traffic speed and volume remains a significant problem for pedestrians, and we are still waiting for one seat ride access to Manhattan. But at the very least, the historic station that spawned the village and contributed to its development for a century and half can continue to do so in a meaningful way. –Councilman John Lazarus PARKING PROHIBITION FOR SNOW PLOWING AND REMOVAL Whenever snow has fallen and the accumulation is such that it covers the streets or highways, an emergency shall exist, and no vehicle shall be parked on the streets or highways or portions thereof indicated.
