The Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick/Hunterdon County (FSSP) raised
$10,000 for Hunterdon families in need during their Annual Golf
Outing at Beaver Brook Country Club in Clinton. Now in its sixth year,
the outing has raised and distributed nearly $80,000 according to the group's
president Michael Darcy. Darcy went on to say "Our success in helping these
families is directly due to the support of our wonderful sponsors and donors,
not to mention the hard work of many members. We model our efforts after
the custom of Irish immigrants, who took time to take care of those around
them in their community. Over the coming year we will distribute all the money
raised to local families and organizations that directly help local residents."
With a sellout crowd of more than 144 golfers and attendees at the outing, the
course was full of players and the clubhouse at Beaver Brook was full of good
cheer, according to Darcy. Major HC sponsors include Flemington Car and
Truck, and Flemington Furs who sponsored hole in one prizes. Donors and
sponsors also included many notable local businesses: Bill Healy Designs and
Newroads Financial, in addition to many well-known golf courses. The FSSP
is sponsoring the first HC St. Patrick's Parade in the Town of Clinton on March 16, 2014! Find out more: www.FSSPHunterdon.com.
