1 7 j u l y 2 0 2 6 ★ What happens when women come together with a shared commitment to strengthening their community? In Hunterdon County, the answer is already changing lives. Impact100 Hunterdon, a women's collective giving organization launched in 2023, is working to expand its membership and increase its charitable impact across the county. Part of the global Impact100 movement—now spanning more than 80 chapters in the United States and abroad—Impact100 chapters have collectively awarded more than $160 million to local nonprofits since the organization's founding in 2003. The model is simple but powerful: each member contributes $1,000 annually, with 100% of member donations going directly to grants. Once at least 100 women join, the chapter awards a transformational $100,000 grant to a local nonprofit. I m p a c t 1 0 0 H u n t e r d o n h a s already awarded two such grants: • In 2024, the chapter's inaugural $100,000 grant was awarded to Freedom House, supporting the transformation of a gifted former nursing home into a sober living residence. The project will provide a stable, supportive recovery environment for individuals rebuilding their lives after addiction. • In 2025, the chapter awarded $100,000 to SAFE in Hunterdon, which provides crisis intervention and support services for residents impacted by domestic and sexual violence. The grant will fund installation of a sprinkler system in SAFE's emergency safehouse, allowing the shelter to expand from 16 to 24 beds without additional construction costs— creating lifesaving space for more adults and children in crisis. Membership has grown steadily, with 117 women participating in the 2024 grant cycle and 120 members in 2025. Contributions beyond the annual $100,000 grant are reserved until enough funding is available to award an additional grant. The chapter's next goal: 200 members—enough to award two $100,000 grants each year. "Every new member directly increases what we can give back to Hunterdon County," said Leanne Treese, Communications Chair. Unlike many charitable organizations, member contributions are used exclusively for grants. Operating expenses are covered separately through sponsorships and donated support. While philanthropy is at the heart of Impact100 Hunterdon, members also enjoy a strong social component designed to build connection and community. Optional monthly events have included chocolate-making with a local chocolatier, group outings to The Devil Wears Prada, trivia nights, and book discussions. The chapter also hosts two signature annual events: The Big Reveal, where the year's membership total is announced, and the Annual Award Meeting, where members celebrate and reveal the year's grant recipient. There is no cap on membership, and women interested in philanthropy, community impact, and connection are encouraged to learn more. At Women's Forum we have traveled an enriching journey through the saga of the American Revolution re-learning our nation's story. We are realizing how much history there is that we might not have ever known and that we now appreciate and understand more fully. Spirited patriotism is seen in our towns with programs and celebrations. Our beautiful flag is flying everywhere! Another distinguishing characteristic of this anniversary year for us has been learning about our American history through the eyes of the artists who witnessed it - and left a legacy like no other. Our trips to the museums of the American Revolution and soon to the Philadelphia Museum of Art for the exhibit A Nation of Artists, (which features a chronological study of American creativity from 1700 to 1960) serve to educate us with new perspectives. History and great art survive the ages and preserve the story for generations to come. A good friend of WF, Mike Norris, will join us as our lecturer at the luncheon event on July 9. For those who are new to WF, Mike holds a Ph.D. in art history and was a lecturer for twenty years with the Cloisters Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He has been with us since year one and we have enjoyed many of his excellent presentations - offering topics in art, the artists, artistic movements and history; always brought forth with his characteristic charm and wit. At WF this July Mike presents: Artist's Eyes on the American Revolution: Gilbert Stuart, Portraitist of the Founding Fathers. LUNCH WITH MIKE AND GILBERT: Thursday, July 9 at noon at the Dillon Library in Bedminster. Admission is $30. In honor of America 250, the museum presents a special exhibit titled, What is an American? Artists Reflect. It is set right on campus within a short walking distance of town with its shops and restaurants. (The museum has a chic little restaurant as well.) Weather permitting, if we choose to spend the entire day at the museum or venture forth into town, our day promises to be an adventure of discovery! TRIP TO THE PRINCETON UNIVERSITY ART MUSEUM: Thursday, July 30. Bus leaves Dillon Library in Bedminster at 9:00 am. Return pickup at the museum is at 3:00 pm. Admission is $40. (Museum entry is free to the public.) Register here: http://engagedpatrons.org/ EventsExtended.cfm?SiteID=3205&EventID=590761 Upcoming dates for WF: August 13, September 10 and 24. (Reminder: Our single August program is dedicated to American literary icon To Kill a Mockingbird, with a screening of the movie and a discussion of the novel. Just as we've had a re-visit to American Revolutionary history, we'll be having the same with this story from years past. New perspectives?) Big Summer ahead! May the weather be gentle, the patriotic fervor strong, and the soccer fans be jubilant! HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA, and HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO ALL! My best always, – Evelyn Breheney Glynn, Founder/Director Women's Forum w o m e n ' S F o r u m : S h a r i n G w i S d o m "No right was deemed by the fathers of the Government more sacred than the right of speech.
