Get ready to cast your lines as the annual Clinton Sunrise Rotary Pete Pender Memorial Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, May 2, rain or shine at DeMott Pond, on Route 173 in Clinton, across the street and one block west of the Courtyard Senior Living facility. Registration will be held from 8:00 am to 9:00 am; fishing is from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon. The Fishing Derby promotes fun family time and good sportsmanship at no charge to participating families. DeMott Pond will be stocked with fish for this free family event, and bait, bobbers and hooks will be supplied – just bring your own pole. The event is open to youth ages 16 years old and under (16 year olds will need a fishing license per NJ regulations). Each participant will receive a raffle ticket for a door prize. Prizes will also be awarded for various categories such as First Fish Caught, Longest Fish and Most Fish Caught. The derby has been a long standing tradition in Clinton and a positive experience for the youth of the community. The event, sponsored by the Clinton Sunrise Rotary, is also supported by the Town of Clinton, Clinton Police, Gentlestone Wealth/Michelle Heide, local businesses and organizations and the Round Valley Trout Association (RVTA). RVTA will be on hand at the fishing derby to provide assistance and information on fishing. To participate as a sponsor, go to www.clintonsunriserotary. org to download a sponsorship form. Rotary will also be holding a food collection of non-perishable items at the derby to benefit the Open Cupboard Food Pantry: www. OpenCupboardFoodPantry.org. Here's to a creative and productive spring! l e b a n o n b o r o u g h 4 t h o F J u l y P a r a D e Planning is underway for the 79th annual Lebanon Borough 4th of July Parade – the longest running annual 4th of July Parade in Hunterdon County. This year, we will be celebrating Lebanon Borough's 100th anniversary and the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. As always, the Parade will feature local fire companies, bands, dignitaries, riding clubs, vintage cars, scout troops and more – American Independence Day tradition at its small town best. And, as always, Lebanon Borough will host a free-to-all picnic after the parade, with music, games, hot dogs, soda and additional refreshments (with the purchase of a commemorative mug). Set up your chair along Main Street or Brunswick Avenue for the Parade, then stroll over to Holjes-Shepard Park (behind the Lebanon Borough School and the Main Street business district), set your chair up again in a shady spot under a tree, and join the fun. If your group would like to join the line of march for this year's Parade, to register please visit: https:// lebanonboro4thofjulyparade.com/register. – See you there!
