Special Persons Day is just around the corner, where each student will invite someone near and dear to join them for donuts, muffins, and fun activities. It is sure to be a morning full of smiles and special memories. We are also looking ahead to Field Day in May, where we will wrap up the school year with games, activities, and special treats. We can't wait to celebrate our students and share these wonderful moments with our community! Patrick McGaheran School There is so much happening at PMG this spring, and we are so excited to share what's ahead! Throughout April, we recognized and celebrated Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month. It was wonderful to see so many students, families, and staff wearing blue or red on Thursdays to show their support. We look forward to continuing that culture of acceptance and understanding all year long. We have some fun things coming up as we head toward the end of the school year! Students will be heading out on field trips and gearing up for field days, which are great opportunities to learn, c o n n e c t , a n d e n j o y b e i n g together. I n t h e g y m , s t u d e n t s have been getting active and learning the fundamentals of basketball and other sports, and students grow in confidence and teamwork. In the classroom, our students are reading every day, and we could not be more proud of how hard they are working! We have been continuing our sustainability efforts here at PMG, and right now we are focused on recycling, especially paper. We are curious to see just how much we can collect as a school community, and every little bit helps! We encourage families and community members to keep it going at home, too. We have a great stretch of the school year ahead of us! Round Valley School Spring is a busy and energizing time at Round Valley, and our students and staff continue to rise to the occasion! April was Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month. We are proud to be a community that celebrates the strengths and unique perspectives of every learner. Our students have been working hard, and it shows. Whether in the classroom, during tier time, or in their daily interactions with one another, they bring effort and curiosity that makes this building a wonderful place to be. We also have some very exciting news, we hatched chicks again this year! Our students have loved watching the eggs hatch and caring for the new arrivals. On the creative side, the PTA Talent Show is coming up, always one of the highlights of the school year. Thank you to our PTA for organizing this event for our kids and families. We are also preparing for our spring Choral and Band and Orchestra concerts in May. Our music teachers and students have put in a great deal of work, and the performances should be wonderful. Finally, grades 3, 4, and 5 will participate in the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA) at the beginning of May. This is an opportunity for students to show what they know. Wishing everyone a wonderful spring season. Clinton Township Middle School Throughout the month of April, students celebrated National Poetry Month and showcased their creativity by participating in a variety of activities. Students were able to visit the "Pocket Poetry" bulletin where they were able to take a poem or leave a poem. Students also had the opportunity to create their own "Black Out Poetry." Black Out Poetry is a form of creating a poem where you select words that catch your interest from the page of a newspaper, book, or other printed text to create a new literary piece. Then you "redact" or remove all the words you don't want. This is often (but not always) done with a black marker, but you may also use colored markers and pencils, or create your own technique for blocking out the unwanted text. Your chosen words form a new message, giving the text a whole new meaning.
