Spruce Run students recently wrapped up their popular bread study unit, a beloved tradition at Spruce Run! Since many children's favorite foods—from pizza to pretzels—feature bread, this hands-on unit was a natural fit. Students discovered the many types of bread we eat, learned how bread is made, explored different shapes and textures, and investigated the countless ways we enjoy this staple food. Patrick McGaheran School As the holiday season approaches, we are enjoying the fall weather at PMG, and our classrooms are in full swing, with engaging learning happening every day. The past few weeks have been filled with exciting activities. Students enjoyed a visit from the Township of Clinton Fire Department, participated in fun fall activities. We welcomed author Beth Ferry for a PTA-sponsored assembly, who s p o k e w i t h students about the importance of reading and w r i t i n g , a n d how fun it can be to find story ideas from the world around u s . S t u d e n t s e n j o y e d learning about how books are made, how the illustrations are created to match the story, and hearing read-alouds from the author herself. Parent-Teacher Conferences took place in November, and we valued the opportunity to collaborate with families to support children's growth. During conferences, families met with teachers to discuss strengths, as well as identify goals and strategies to support continued growth. When families and educators collaborate and communicate, students thrive, and this ongoing partnership supports children's learning and growth. The word of the month for December is generosity, and we encourage families to join our PMG staff in modeling ways to show generosity to others by focusing on the thoughtfulness and care we put into our actions. Children may write kind notes to family members, help a sibling with a task, or share their favorite toys during playtime. Even simple acts like holding the door for someone, offering a compliment, or including a classmate at recess are wonderful expressions of generosity. We look forward to seeing our students embrace generosity throughout December and beyond. Round Valley School Round Valley School Honors Local Veterans! Round Valley School marked Veterans Day with an all-school assembly welcoming veterans, all family members of our students and staff. Students and veterans recited the Pledge of Allegiance together and sang the National Anthem. Student speakers shared information about the meaning of Veterans Day, and attendees learned about the military service of each veteran. After the assembly, veterans visited classrooms of their student relatives, where students asked questions about their experiences. We're grateful to these veterans for their service and look forward to continuing this tradition in the coming years. Clinton Township Middle School CTMS would like to welcome our new Enrichment Teacher, Laura Schmidt. Mrs. Schmidt comes to us from Roxbury High School, where she has been teaching Language Arts for over 16 years. She brings experience, creativity and enthusiasm to her new position with us, and will be a fantastic addition to our staff! CTMS Enrichment students are on a mission to leave their mark on the school! This fall we started a school mural project, and hope to fill the hallways with color and inspiration. Check out the wall art! Happy Holidays!
