Despite the ire of this long distance reader below, I have to say I so
enjoy getting emails from the residents of our sister-city out west:
Dear Julie, Why is most of your Newsletter, which is here in Clinton
Township, Michigan, all about New Jersey and Pennsylvania?! We
don't want their Newsletter, we want ours! – Debbie B.
Dear Debbie, Thank you for reaching out – I hope all is well in
Michigan! You must have signed up for our monthly Newsletter email
blast online (at: www.ClintonTwpNewsletter.com).The reason that
our Newsletter is all about New Jersey and Pennsylvania is because...
we are in Clinton Township, New Jersey! (close to PA.) In order to get
your own newsletter in Michigan, you should contact your mayor and
town council and tell them that they should start one, if they haven't
already. Hope this helps! Thanks, Julie Flynn
Editor, Clinton Township Newsletter, Clinton Township, New Jersey
Hold on while I pack my bags to move to Michigan, I'll get right on
starting that newsletter for them! It's funny, but I'm glad that people
in Michigan are paying attention. Or not, as the case may be.
Of course, I always love hearing from all of you, our local CTNL read-
ers! When I see you out-and-about in person, this publication brings
up some really interesting conversations, and I never know what to
expect. Last month's cover really grabbed people, and many told me
about their summer reading, and their creative endeavors. What the
world needs now is more books, peace and creativity, if you ask me.
For the past 24 years, I have physically felt the arrival of the month
of September, with its tragic anniversary, before I can even logically
make sense of the emotion. I'll feel an air of malaise and wonder,
why so blue on a lovely day? And then I think back to what began
as a gorgeous day on 9/11/2001, and then turned catastrophic as
every minute of that morning unfolded, each one more frightening
than the previous. I know so many people locally who lost loved
ones that day, people who narrowly escaped losing their lives there
before the towers fell, and so many more who witnessed the whole
thing, helplessly. The week after it happened, to me it seemed the
world had flipped on its axis and would never right itself again. Since
then we've all gone on to living normal lives, but we will never forget.
I wish you all peace
during this time.
