Our focus is on helping ALICE - the 23% of our neighbors who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained and Employed (or retired). How we help: ALICE takes many different forms - poverty prevention programs, advocacy and collaborative efforts across the community. Read more about our current work in the latest Community Impact Report on our website and see where we are headed longer term in our Long Range Plan. We hope you will join us in our efforts because we can't build a stronger community alone! Great things happen when we LIVE UNITED! Find out more about UWHC at: www.UWHunterdon.org. L o c A L r e S i d e n t i n u r g e n t n e e d o F " t h e g i F t o F L i F e " – A L i v i n g k i d n e Y d o n o r Chris Reardon and his family have been residents here in the Clinton area for the past 22 years. Chris learned six years ago that he was in the early stages of kidney failure and was accepted onto the Kidney Transplant List at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (in Livingston, NJ) in July 2024. His kidney function is now at a critical level of 13%. Finding a kidney from a living donor is the better and healthier option, compared to waiting, on average, 3-7 years for a kidney from a deceased donor. Chris' immediate family members are not medically eligible to be a living donor, and hospitals do not help you find a living donor. Thus it is imperative that Chris asks others to Share His Story To Help Him Find a Living Kidney Donor with your friends, family, organizations, co-workers, etc., and also on your social media platforms. All medical testing and surgery are covered by Chris' health insurance at NO COST TO YOU. To learn more about Chris and his situation, please visit his website at: www.ChrisNeedsAKidney.net. There is a direct link on his website for you to register as a potential living donor. Thank you for your consideration. The Flemington Area Food Pantry's major fundraiser, the "Empty Bowl" lunch will be held this Fall on Friday, October 10. This will once again be a drive-up event held at the Pantry with tickets available in September. Featured will be several delicious soups from local restaurants and kitchens along with a large pottery sale. Plans are underway and more information will be available in late summer. Save the date! Show your support on October 10 at the Pantry for the approximately 1,600 income-qualified Hunterdon County families who are food-insecure, while enjoying a good lunch.
