I like a Gershwin tune, how about you?" Dear Ladies, Those captivating lyrics from THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK are an enticing clue to what awaits us at Women's Forum June 2025 - as we mark our 8th anniversary year!! We've been growing steadily with new members joining us every month. Through Dillon Library's online presence and with the generous support of The Clinton Township Newsletter (always finding a nice spot for our newsletter in the magazine) women have been inspired to attend our events and join the Women's Forum membership. To all, WF extends a very heartfelt Thank You!! Now back to NY in June 2025 and... GEORGE GERSHWIN: An American institution, he is immortalized in a treasury of music for Broadway, the movies, and the opera with his Magnum Opus, Porgy and Bess. Gershwin is also the composer who imagined the electrifying notes of a solo clarinet that would awaken the heart and spirit as it leads into what is surely a symphonic American anthem~ Rhapsody in Blue! Known as a landmark in 20th-century music, just hearing those first few notes takes one right back to 1924 and to where it was written ~ the glamour capital of the world NEW YORK CITY!! Join us for a luncheon and documentary screening of the life of this master composer and learn about his brilliant contribution to American culture: Thursday in the Library with George: June 5 at noon, Dillon Library, Bedminster. Admission is $20. One hundred years later, the magic is still there. Remembering the likes of Astaire in top hat and tails sweeping the lovely Ginger in chiffon and ostrich feathers off to the Plaza or the Waldorf-Astoria!! It is a legendary address and along with the handsome apartment buildings, stunning vestiges of The Gilded Age, and with the monumental Met on the Park, it's also home to a number of "boutique" museums – smaller jewel boxes – that we need to explore! The Cooper Hewitt, The Jewish Museum, The Society of Illustrators, The Neue Gallery-this one a return visit. (You'll notice that I have left out the Guggenheim. I'm saving that for a month-long tribute to American icon Frank Lloyd Wright, which will be coming up next year. And, the Frick Collection which has recently re-opened will also be on the schedule for next year. However, they are available to you as well.) And, if it's a beautiful day and you feel like some Upper East Side shopping or gourmet restauranting, Madison Avenue awaits! TRIP TO THE UPPER EAST SIDE: Thursday, June 26. Leaving Dillon Library, Bedminster at 9:00 am. Return pickup TBD at 3:00 pm. Admission is $45. Register here: http:// engagedpatrons.org/EventsExtended.cfm?SiteID=3205&EventID=558607. Upcoming dates: July 10 & 24. August 14 (one event this month) Looking forward to a glorious Summer at Women's Forum! Keep Learning and Share Your Wisdom! Art is a language that everyone speaks—whether you're an artist or not. We believe art is for everyone. Here's how we are trying to ensure that what we have to offer is accessible to all: n World-class contemporary exhibitions that stimulate the senses. n iPads and QR codes positioned around the galleries where visitors can hear from exhibiting artist and curators, which offers valuable context and allows for a deeper relationship with the work and artist. n Collaborating with thirty schools, exhibiting art by nearly 1,000 children in our Young Artists Showcase. n Reopening of ArtZone, a drop-in, family-friendly space open to the public where all ages and abilities are welcome to come and create. n Maintaining a digital library on our website of previous artist talks, panel discussions, opening receptions, and immersive virtual-reality tours of our exhibitions. n Expanding the use of our beautiful terrace, a gathering spot for the entire community, with exciting offerings like dance classes and ArtBar. n Free Museum admission to families and individuals who receive benefits through SNAP, WFNJ, the Child Care Subsidy Program and/or WIC. n Designating free seats in our classes and workshops to those currently enrolled in the New Jersey Families First Program and their families.
