Dear Ladies, Contemplating Spring during this year's this
exceptionally aggressive Winter seemed like a necessary respite for
one's sanity. The thought of actually stepping out the door with just a sweater
into the embrace of soft breezes is very alluring. Springtime yearnings may also
be a result of WF rushing the season, "Spring Fever" as our monthly event
announcements come together long before the actual date of the program.
So, for now, let's contemplate the month of April and whatever thoughts of
Spring we can muster as we sit at home in sweatpants and hoodies for a while!
WF April 2025 is dedicated to Beauty – the beauty of poetic
artistry and the beauty of creating exquisite decor which can make
our living spaces a haven. In honor of National Poetry Month, we'll start
with a poet whose stature of 5'1" belies a monumental talent. In her day, not
only was she lauded for her poetry (Pulitzer, first woman to win!) her lifestyle
offered a foreshadowing of today's celebrity culture where "all is forgiven if
you are fabulous enough". Edna St.Vincent Millay was definitely "fabulous
enough" and yes, all was forgiven! She had the literary world of her day in the
palm of her dainty hand.
I would like to send out a call to the poets among us ~ if (during
the discussion part of the session) you would like to share with us one of your
poems and your inspiration, it would be a lovely enhancement to our program.
Please let me know! Lunch with Edna St. Vincent Millay: Thursday
April 10 at noon. Dillon Library, Bedminster NJ. Admission is $20. *To
register please see below.
For our second event of the month, WF is pleased to announce
the return of one of our favorite lecturers, Barry Thomson. This
time around it's all about Wildfair, this year's Mansion in May located
in Chester, NJ. Sure to be an informative and inspiring afternoon. Lunch
with Barry and Wildfair: Thursday April 24 at noon. Dillon Library,
Bedminster NJ. Admission is $20. *To register please see below.
Upcoming event dates: May 15 & 22. (Not our usual two-week break,
we'll return to it in June.) Continue to Learn and Share Your Wisdom!
As always, Evelyn Breheney Glynn, Founder/Director Women's Forum
