In 2024, The Environmental Commission was awarded the
Raritan Headwaters Woods & Waterways (RHA) Grant. The
goal is to plant trees in riparian buffers along the North Branch,
South Branch of the Raritan River and their tributaries. This
grant covers the cost of purchasing native trees, cages and tubes.
RHA will also be providing technical assistance on planting day.
The project will be located on Township owned property, Prostak
West. Congratulations to the Environmental Commission!

Many of our Township owned properties have been negatively
impacted by the Emerald Ash Borer. Our worst hit parcel is
Windy Acres. In 2023, the Environmental Commission and
Open Space Committee planted 125 native trees and shrubs for
a reforestation project. This year, using grant money, we will be
adding one-hundred more! We will also be adding educational
signage covering the reforestation process, and information on
the native species that have been selected.
