C L I N T O N T O W N S H I P S C H O O L N E W S www.ctsdnj.org Dear Clinton Township Community Members, Learning experiences shape who we are, and who we become. Almost everyone who is reading this can probably think back to a teacher, or an experience that had a significant impact. Students learn best when they are engaged and feel like what they are learning has an impact on themselves, their world, and the future. That is why we are pleased to announce that Round Valley School (RVS) is the first school in the district to earn bronze status for Sustainable New Jersey Schools, which is a state program that encourages schools to adopt policies, procedures, and learning that positively impact the environment. In the picture you can see the adults involved in leading the Green Team at RVS. These adults created student teams that educated the community, did a waste audit, and are now looking at the impact of emissions on air quality. Student volunteers were selected as part of the team, and encouraged school wide participation. Three Representatives from the Green Team, Caroline Mann, the Sustainable Schools District Lead, Ronda Ferri, and Jen Desjadon accepted the award on the district's behalf at the New Jersey School Board's Conference in Atlantic City the week of October 21. Board members, including Board President Mrs. Lana Brennan, and Vice President Dr. Catherine Riihimaki, were on hand to accept the award with myself and Business Administrator Dr. Gretchen Dempsey. For the remainder of the year we will continue our journey towards sustainability as a district, as we seek to get Clinton Township Middle School, Patrick McGaheran School, and Spruce Run Preschool certified as Bronze, and earn Silver Status for Round Valley School. These types of experiences fully engage our students and staff and build experiential learning that will last well beyond the students' time in CTSD. – Sincerely, Dr. Melissa Stager, Ed.D Superintendent, CTSD www.ctsdnj.org ^ G o v e r n o r ' s e d u c a t o r o f t h e Y e a r P r o G r a m [ The New Jersey Department of Education has announced the Governor's Educator of the Year Program for the 2024-2025 school year.
