Tumor Tidbits by Deborah Rizzo, MA, MT-BC, PPMT Tumor Tidbit #3 Did you know that depression is the most pervasive ailment facing caregivers of brain tumor patients? Many depressive symptoms do not just occur due to the diagnosis, but from the lack of social contact and financial strains of treatment. For those newly diagnosed and their families, finding emotional support can be a crucial way to increase interpersonal interactions during an otherwise isolating time. Luckily, The American Brain Tumor Association has a network of caring, from support groups to one on one patient and caregiver mentor support. Find a group by state or call their care line. More information can be found here: www.abta.org/about-brain-tumors/social-emotional-support/ For more information on how you can directly help those affected by brain tumors and brain cancer, please visit: www.
