2 1 s e p t e m b e r 2 0 2 4 T h i r d a n n u a l ' l i n k s F o r l e x ' g o l F o u T i n g a T s T a n T o n r i d g e g o l F & c o u n T r y c l u B Iron Girl Project (IGP) is proud to partner with Stanton Ridge Golf and Country Club, along with the Heritage Cares Foundation, to host the Third Annual Links for Lex Golf Outing & Dinner! The event will take place on Monday, September 23, with registration and lunch starting at 11:30 am and a 12:30 pm shotgun start. The registration fee of $250 for golfers includes a day of golfing on the beautiful Stanton Ridge Par-71 championship golf course, a grab-and-go lunch, beverage and snack service on the course, par- ticipant's gift, cocktail reception and full buffet dinner, bar service and dessert. The event will also feature a 50/50 Raffle Helicopter Ball Drop, basket raffles, a silent auction and a chance to win a new car with a Hole-In-One contest. All proceeds raised benefit the Iron Girl Project's Alexea G. Kar- pinski Memorial Scholarship Fund. In June 2024, IGP awarded nine scholarships totaling $20,277 to graduating high school student-athletes who demonstrated leadership, determination and compassion on their teams, in their classrooms, and in their communities. The nine deserving winners were chosen out of 83 entries received from high school students across New Jersey. The winners awarded were: • Cassie Avallone of Glen Gardner: Voorhees High School • Bryce Coesfeld of Newton: Kittatinny Regional High School • Grace Rogan of Clinton: Voorhees High School • Ellie Sklar of Pittstown: North Hunterdon High School • Sofia Squizziato of Gillette: Watchung Hills Reg. High School • Delaney Swain of Middlesex: The Pingry School • Evan Thompson of Flemington: Hunterdon Central Reg. High School • Amanda Walker of Stockton: Hunterdon Central Reg. High School • Alessandra Wallace of Flemington: Hunterdon Central Reg. High School Since 2022, Iron Girl Project has awarded 19 Alexea G. Karpinski Memorial Scholarships totaling $42,807 to New Jersey high school student-athletes. The amount of the scholarship given to each was $2,253.00 to reflect the jersey numbers Lex wore at Hunterdon Central, #22 for lacrosse and #53 for field hockey. Iron Girl Project, Inc. was created to honor, Alexea "Lex" Karpin- ski, an aspiring two-sport D1 varsity athlete and Honor Roll student in her junior year at Hunterdon Central Regional High School who passed away suddenly in November of 2020. It supports high school student-athletes in their journey to create their own legacy, one which has a positive impact on their teammates, families and communities. From helping with homework to making lunches, all while squeezing in time for your own daily obligations, it can be difficult in finding moments to exercise. Here are a few ways to keep on track with your exercise regime, without adding extra stress into your busy life! • The best way to avoid stretching yourself too thin is by starting small. Remember, the ACSM organization recommends a minimum of thirty minutes a day of moderate aerobic activity for at least five of the seven days each week. This can be broken up into two 15-minute walks around the neighborhood, for example, before picking the kids up from school or right after dinner. You can even make it into a fun family bonding activity after school to catch up on the day! You can also incorporate exercises into your work day, while the little ones are at school. With busy daily schedules it can be difficult to add a full workout into your day, so try a variety of briefer activities that can keep you fit and mobile. If you are working from home or at an office desk, you can take laps every hour to stretch out, or multitask by sitting and doing heel raises or seated marches while completing your work tasks. This will provide you with more energy throughout the day – ready to tackle the evening chaos of a full house! Another option, try finding other forms of exercise that can provide stress relieving benefits, such as committing to a yoga class once or twice a week. With the start of the school year being a hectic time for everyone in the house, continuing with or modifying your exercise goals can help elevate your mood, increase your energy level and create a positive mindset throughout the day!
