The 24th annual Hunterdon Polo Classic was held on June 8 at Fieldview Farm in Pittstown under picture-perfect weather: clear skies, bright sunshine, and a wonderful breeze! This year a new Polo Pavilion was available as an add-on to the tailgate experience where Pavilion participants were treated to tasty ciders from Ironbound Farm and Ciderhouse, wonderful wine selections from Cree Wine Company, and delicious appetizers created by 15 Landsdowne Catering. The day started with several pre-game festivities, including: Saint Ann's of Hampton Pipes and Drums, an Antique and Classic Car parade and display, the Star Spangled Banner sung by Maggie Dean, and a Polo demonstration. Team Fieldview Farm competed against the Hunterdon Polo Club, with the polo match commencing at 2:00 pm. The half time intermission provided several fun activities, including a Hat Parade at Center Field, Best Hat Awards Ceremony, the Tewksbury Foot Bassets, Tailgate Judging and Awards, and of course the time-honored Divot Stomp! The conclusion of the match saw Hunterdon Polo Club as the winners with a score of 6 - 4. What an amazing day! The Hunterdon Foundation, sponsor of the Hunterdon Polo Classic, donated over $25,000 to this year's charity beneficiaries: Toshiko Takaezu Studio Project, Riding with Heart, Team Velvet, HOME of Somerset County, Family Promise of Hunterdon County, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
