Diet, unsustainable fitness regimes, etc .… Remember to start gradually whatever your final goal is. Give your body time to adjust to the changes you are trying to make, whether it is nutrition or fitness. Choose an achievable goal; it is unlikely you are going to lose ten pounds in a week, nor is it safe! If you are a member at the gym, try increasing the number of sessions per week gradually, add some longer steady sessions to help you burn those extra calories, do not forget some resistance training, some more high intensity sessions and stretching routine to balance it all. The guidelines are 150 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous aerobic activity weekly, and at least two strength/resistance sessions per week. How can you organize that? You can start with moderate intensity aerobic physical activity for a minimum of 30 minutes five days per week. Repeat it for two-to-three weeks, then see if you can start moving onto vigorous intensity aerobic activity for a minimum of 20 minutes three days a week. Combine it with two strength training sessions and maybe a yoga or Pilates class to balance it all. If you're thinking of using nutrition to get into a bathing suit, instead of going all or nothing, aim to cut down gradually. Instead of eating out or processed food seven days a week, cut down to three, add vegetables and fruit, and cut down on sodas and sweets. It is OK to have a treat… maybe once a week instead of every day! And every time you fall into temptation just ask yourself how hard do you want to look good in that bathing suit, that will keep you motivated and on track! Make it all part of your weekly routine and next time you will not have to panic at the last minute! Good luck!
