It is feeling rooted to the present moment, and to each other. It uses the simplicity that the Earth has always given us. Nature Therapy helps kids find their strength, voice, and belonging to a greater ecosystem. Nature therapy teaches children that by getting outside, we can tune in to our thoughts and feelings. It is swinging high to the sky, and crawling low in the grass. Through it, we strengthen our muscles, and our hearts. The wind keeps us flexible, the rain reminds us we can always dance, the snow brings us wonder, the sun brings us gratitude, and the birds remind us that the best songs are sung by them. Nature therapy reminds us there is an easier way; it allows children to nurture themselves, and to celebrate the things that they can do. This poem was written by Emily Bucher OTR/L, the owner and pediatric occupational therapist from Nature & Nurture OT, a pe- diatric therapy practice that serves children in Hunterdon County and surrounding areas. Emily is a certified autism, ADHD, pediatric, anxiety, and executive functioning specialist. She works with children of all ages in their homes, yards, and parks. Her motto is, "Let's get your kids back outside." You can reach Emily at: naturenurtureot@gmail.com or: 908.400.2939. Find out more at: www.NatureNurtureOT.com.
