Deputy Commissioner Director, Jeff Kuhl and liaison to the Department of Planning and Land Use said, "The continued preservation of open space and the conservation of historical sites is essential to protecting our local environment and enhancing the scenic landscape and rural character of Hunterdon County's rich heritage. This board has and will continue to make land and historical preservation a leading policy priority." Open Space and Historic Preservation Grant funds will be disbursed through the Department of Planning and Land Use to the following municipalities and non-profits: • Municipal grant to East Amwell, in an amount not to exceed $5,000.00, for the update and completion of a Farmland Preservation Plan. • Municipal grant to Raritan Township, in an amount not to exceed $205,000.00, to the Hunterdon Land Trust for the historic preservation and restoration of the Bank Barn at Dvoor Farm. • Historic preservation grant to the Delaware River Mill Society, in an amount not to exceed $42,800.00, for roof repair on the Prallsville granary/silo, located at 24 Risler Street, in Stockton. • Historic preservation grant to the Borough of High Bridge, in an amount not to exceed $20,000.00, for the restoration of the Solitude House. • Historic preservation grant to Holland Township for the restoration of the Riegle Ridge Grandstand, in an amount not to exceed $50,000.00, for carpentry repair and refinishing of the grandstand. • Historic preservation grant to the Hunterdon County Historical Society, in the amount not to exceed $25,000.00, for the exterior painting of the Doric House, located at 114 Main Street in Flemington. • Historic preservation grant to Readington Township, in an amount not to exceed $40,000.00, for the restoration of the Thomas Bowman House. • Historic preservation grant to the Tewksbury Historical Society, in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00, for restoration of the Headquarters Building. • Historic preservation grant to the Hunterdon Land Trust, in an amount not to exceed $50,000.00, for the restoration of the Bank Barn at Dvoor Farm. • Historic preservation grant to Lebanon Township, in an amount not to exceed $6,500.00, for the restoration of the Lebanon Township Museum. Bill Millette, Hunterdon County Open Space Coordinator said, "These grants underscore the County's unwavering commitment to safeguarding our heritage and preserving the rich history and natural beauty of our region. The allocation of these funds reflects the dedication of the County Commissioners and the County Park and Open Space Advisory Committee to the smart use of the County's Open Space Trust Fund in prioritizing the conservation of our open spaces and historic sites."
