Lomerson, age 66, of Clinton Township, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at home. He was born on October 6, 1957 in Flemington, and was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County. He was the son of the late Ralph and Esther Smith Lomerson. Ronald was the husband of Mary H. Prostak Lomerson, celebrating forty-three years of marriage. The couple were high school sweethearts. Ronald was a student in the last class of North Hunterdon Regional High School before Voorhees High School opened, and was a graduate of NHHS. He went on to study music at Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, NC. His career spanned thirty-five years in direct care, and later as switch- board coordinator at the Hunterdon Developmental Center in Clinton. Memberships include Spruce Run Lutheran Church in Glen Gardner. He was also a member of The Grange, and President of Spruce Run Cemetery. As a kid, he was active in Boy Scout Troop #125 where he also became an Eagle Scout, the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America. Ronald loved to tell jokes. He will always be remembered for his 'Larry the Lamb' and 'Precious' puppets that would attend various events with him and Mary. He loved the Flemington Fair and, years ago, especially loved going to the Flemington races with all the men in the family. Most of all, Ronald adored Christmas. He loved decorating Christmas trees, especially with the old-fashioned bubble lights. He was known for his ongoing role as Father Christmas each and every year. He was Father Christmas in Clinton for the past twenty-seven years, yet he has been playing the role for the past thirty-five years in various locations. He even made an appearance as Father Christmas in Dickens Days in Clinton the weekend before he passed away. On his bucket list he was always hopeful to appear on the last float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City. Survivors in addition to his loving wife include three siblings; Joseph Lomerson and his wife Emily of Frankinville, Mary Smith of Milford, and Donna Mayberry and her husband Glenn of Lebanon Township. Nieces and nephews; Stephen, Debbie, Timmy, Danny, Jodi, Terri, Parker, Melissa and Christine, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. Ronald was predeceased by one sister; Patricia Nazzaro and one niece; Cathy Smith. He is also predeceased by his maternal grandparents; Samuel and Mary Smith. Paternal grandparents; Joseph and Ruth Lomerson. In celebration of Ronald's love of Christmas, all guests were encouraged to wear a Santa hat to the viewing and his funeral service. "Freedom makes a huge requirement of every human being. With freedom comes responsibility. For the person who is unwilling to grow up, the person who does not want to carry his own weight, this is a frightening prospect." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt "We all have a responsibility to try and make this world beer, whether it's through our work, the causes we champion, the way that we treat people, or the values we impart to the next generation." ~ Daniel Lubetzky
