And what is more magical this holiday season than the tradition of seeing The Nutcracker!? This year, The Clinton Nutcracker by Hunterdon Hills Ballet will be even bigger and more magical than ever before. Now in its seventh year, The Clinton Nutcracker, with stunning talent and local ties, will run Friday, December 15 - Sunday, December 17. "Each year, HHB students are so excited to jump into Nutcracker as soon as summer ends. There is a buzz in the air from the youngest cast members to our high school veterans. As we continue to build upon the tradition we have started here, we always look to see how else we can add to the experience," says Elaine Matthews, Artistic Director and Owner of Hunterdon Hills Ballet. The story of The Clinton Nutcracker is highlighted by the local talent of the Hunterdon Hills Ballet trained dancers ages 4 - 18. It is told with the use of projections that transport you back in time, set pieces that include the bridge of downtown Clinton adorned with toy soldiers, falling snowflakes that waltz in front of our Clinton Red Mill, a Hunterdon County hot air balloon, and the show-stopper: a magical, growing Christmas tree! In an exciting addition this year, Mother Ginger will take the stage, standing over ten feet tall, with her Polichinelles emerging from beneath her voluminous skirt, thanks to the incredible efforts of local parent volunteers Dave and Meghan Lissner. Emilia Kuhn (16) of Lebanon Township, reprises her role as Clara, emphasizing the support from her HHB family and the treasured experience of playing Clara. "The role of Clara is so beloved. I am grateful to be able to have this extraordinary opportunity again!" Sharing the role of Clara is Riho Yokogawa (13) of Annandale, who looks forward to the Pas de Deux dance with Christopher Bloom, a professional NYC dancer and the Nutcracker Prince, returning for his sixth year as the town's toymaker, Herr Drosselmeier, and the Nutcracker Prince. "Chris is such an incredible dancer! He can lift us as if Clara is weightless!" she says. Professional NYC dancers offer a unique experience to the young performers. Emma Dorrler (17) of Phillipsburg, partnering with professional Kenny Corrigan as the Sugar Plum Fairy, describes that "Performing with a professional dancer gives us great exposure to the world of dance outside of Hunterdon County as it pushes us towards new limits." Carla Orlando (17) of Bethlehem Township, another graduating senior, also embraces this special opportunity and is "so grateful and honored to be a part of this long, special tradition!" Get ready for a magical experience at The Clinton Nutcracker, from December 15 to 17 at the Clinton Township Middle School! Megan Lawn (17) of Lebanon, is looking forward to her seventh year of being part of the tradition. As the Rehearsal Captain, Megan feels so connected to the journey and experience of the younger dancers. "This Nutcracker always means so much to us. Being able to perform together as a family and sharing our love for each other makes this tradition and ballet something so special. We will never, ever take it for granted. We are all looking forward to sharing it with you, from our youngest little mice to my fellow graduating seniors!" Join us for this enchanting event and witness the talent, beauty, and magic of The Clinton Nutcracker. It's perfect for families and individuals of all ages, offering a heartwarming performance that's not to be missed! Tickets are available at www.HunterdonHillsBallet. com. Group rates are available.
