Tropical Storm Ophelia didn't dampen BSA Troop 288's spirits
on their first campout of the new Scouting year last month! The
Troop camped at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation in PA, and in true Scout
fashion, they came well prepared for Ophelia's wind and rain.
Younger Scouts were able to work on rank advancement skills, and the
entire Troop donned their waterproofs and hiking boots, and explored
nearby Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, a 2,600 acre raptor observation &
education center. While the wind and driving rain meant that the raptor
watching was a bust, the Scouts still earned some
fantastic views out on the trails.
Parents picking up their Scouts after the campout
were met with cheerful faces, and stories of support and kindness
under challenging conditions. Way to pull together, T288!
BSA Troop 288 meets on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm in the
Fellowship Hall at Annandale Reformed Church. We welcome
new members to join us! For more information on Scouting,
